Post Bandsters, I need advise please?

Recommended Posts

Hello! My surgery is approacing on July 17. I have a list from the doctor's office on what to eat and such however, I would like to hear suggestions on what I will need to get through my first week (ie, broth, popsicles etc) after surgery so I will not need to leave the house or ask my dear husband to run to the store as his plate will be full with working and then coming home and taking care of our three girls?

Please share your wisdom:)

OC I lived on cream Soup, some jell-o, Protein smoothies, Water, and very little baby food (didn't care for the blandness of it). I also had apple sauce and popsicles. That's about it. So that's really all you need to stock up on. Good luck to you, and congrats on getting approved. It took me 2.5 yrs of jumping through hoops to get BCBS to approve me. It's all worth it though.

Christine, thank you for the information. I am trying to create a shopping list and what the docs tell you to get and what you actually need are two different worlds. You you can think of anything else, please let me know.

I too had a struggle with my insurance, but not as long as yours. Since January I have gone through two appeals and I finally got the decision from Aetna over turned mid June so my surgery is scheduled July 17, YIPPY!!!!

Try going to search and type in shopping list. That really helped me out before my surgery. The list includes things you would never think of.

I know that after surgery I also suffered from Constipation. My nurse at the bariatric center suggested some real fruit juice..like cranberry juice so I did have a glass of that each day and it really helped.

Good luck. I am coming upon 2 months post surgery and I am sooooo happy. This is the best thing I ever did for myself. sugar free popsicles can still save me in the evening. And propel Water since I was a soda addict and I love the flavor of grape propel.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
