Georgia... hope you get your rest tonight! I hate it when my son has nightmares... he gets so scared and there's nothing I can do to take it away!

My son slept all through the night...thank goodness. You never know what their nightmares consist of. Glad your new job is going well. Have a safe trip and we'll talk to you when you get back.

I am pooped today. I pretty much exercised all day, lol. DH says I'm becoming an addict, lol. I did pilates and zumba this morning. Then, tonight I ran 3.1 miles (in intervals~ mostly running though) and I did strength training on my arms, legs and abs. I haven't lost any weight lately and I think it's due to the strength training. Hopefully it will eventuallly catch up and I'll start losing again. Anyway, I've had a busy day and I think I may take tomorrow off. Probably a good thing because I doubt I'll be able to walk anyways, lol.

Wow!

This is a really motivational thread.

I have just began reading in the fitness/exercise threads for motivation to get my tail onto my treadmill. It is time!

You are all doing so great and I hope to get onboard and get started this week. Keep up the great - motivational work!

Welcome NFaith!! Good luck with starting the program.

Where is everyone?? This thread seems to be dwindling down more and more. I miss talking to everyone!

My 5k is next Saturday and I'm getting excited about it. I can run the whole 5k straight on the treadmill, but I'm not sure I can do it outside. Taking hills and the colder weather into consideration, I just don't know. Even if I don't run the entire 5k....I'm okay with that. The only thing I care about it crossing that finish line!!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Hi everyone. Welcome NFaith. This is a great group, although we aren't as active on the thread these days

Georgia... You're doing great. Do you know the route for the race? If so, try a practice run this weekend outside. That will give you a bit of confidence for the race and will let you know where the hills and hard parts are. Regardless... you are going to do great!

Renewed... I'm so glad you're healing up so quickly. Must be the terrific physical shape you were in before the surgery!!!

Ok, I feel like a bloated pig! 2 days of conference/meetings which included gourmet meals, lots of alcohol and social time, and lots of sitting in meetings. My butt is really sore! Great meeting though, and I'm glad I went. I also know I definately need a fill.

I really need to run today, but I'm way too tired. So I'm going to run in the morning before work.

Tomorrow is Halloween. I love it. The kids are so excited to go trick or treating. I have to go out soon and get stuff to make treats for school for my DD. I'm also getting some sushi for DH and I to have later tonight after the kids are in bed. We like to have it while watching our TV shows (in the bedroom, kind of romantic!). This was the first trip away in awhile... so I was missed if you know what I mean!!!

Oh yeah... I had to share this amazing NSV...

As you know I've just started my new job. No one there knows me from before... so who they see today is the new, smaller me. I can already tell there is no overweight predjudice happening. They don't see me as overweight at all. I'm basically normal. It was surreal. Its like I have no baggage from the old me. Really a great feeling!

Guest Leslie2Lose

That's wonderful Kathy! (see I'm still here) I know you have to feel so great about yourself. Isn't it great just to be "normal"...I look in the mirror and I look like people around me. I'm no longer the one that people stare at because I'm fat - hopefully I'm now stared at because I'm attractive. I'm so happy for you!

My kids are looking forward to Halloween too. We just carved the pumpkins...

Georgia & Leslie- Good luck next weekend. I am so proud of you both for finishing the program. We were together back in the summer. Gosh to think if I would have been able to stick with it, I would be able to run a 5K by now. I'll get there. We are probably are going to buy a treadmill soon. I can not run outside in the winter. I get asthmatic bronchitis from the cold air every winter.

Renewed - You are doing great for being out just a week. I can't believe you are able to drive already. You are amazing!!! Being physically fit probably has alot to do with it.

Kathy - It is nice to be treated like the rest of the world. There is really a big difference in how people treat you when you wear a size 26-28 and how they treat you as a size 18-20. It will be even better when I am much smaller. But I do think it has alot to do about how we preceive ourselves. I have much more confidence and better self esteem now.

Mamato - Hello, I see you. I hope all is going well.

Well now that soccer season is over, I came home and crashed. I slept for two hours. Hubby even cooked. We have just been so busy and we live out in the boonies so we always have more travel time than anyone else.

Have a good Friday!!!

Go Phillies!!! Yahooooo!!! World Series Champions!!!

Kathy~ great NSV!! Feels great doesn't it.

Sugar~ I have only ran once outside when it was cold (a few days ago) and it was a lot harder. Hopefully it won't be too cold on Saturday. And you WILL get there. Hang in there. I would love to have a treadmill at home.

Fanny~ that's great!! Keep up the good work!!

Leslie~ my son is looking forward to halloween too. He's gonna be a mail man. We are going to get some pictures of him in the mail truck. It's gonna be so cute.

Helloooooooo! I have missed all of you. I have not run at all this week; doctor's orders! Turf Toe!!!! It is still buggin' me, but the rest did help a lot. Work is going good; I have two more job opportunities; thanks you all told me about the doors of opportunity and things happening for a reason. Then out of the blue, my husband called and said he was making an offer on a house we have drooled over for two years. I am so excited. We built our home and love it; but we both agreed we would move for this new one. It was a bankrupcy - bank own; so it is a great price. No one has ever lived it; the builder fininshed it and never moved in.

I also took your advise and uped my claorie intake; OK, you were all right again!!! I started lossing some. I need a fill too Kathy - Mine is scheduled for Nov 13.

I am taking my mom, daughter and granddaughter to New York for the weekend. It is my granddaughter's 10th birthday -she and I have been planning this since she was 5years old.

I not suppose to run until Tuesday; but I am tempted to run outside in the morning - it is so pretty out. I already know what you are going to say - so I won't run. I will take my little doggie a walk! :smile2:

Glad to hear everyone is well and healing.

Thinking of all of you. Lynn

Lyn~ Good to hear from you! Sorry your toe is still bothering you. Hope it heals soon. Oh, and good luck with the new job opportunities and the new house!

Fannie~ LOL!! Hmmmm....depends on how long each activity lasts. HA...can't believe I just said that!

Well, we went trick or treating tonight. My son was sooooo cute in his little mail man costume. On a bad note, he has a ton of candy and it's calling my name....YIKES!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
