Everyone else; get your screening! Love you all too!

i am the obnoxious friend - who nags my GF's who are over 40 and never had a mamogram to GET ONE. actually i'm beyond obnoxious - go figure:)

i remember when i scheduled my first one at 24, and was told i don't need one. i'm like well my mom was just diagnosed, and one of her sisters is stage 2; they're like ..... OK we'll let this go, even tho your not over 40. thankfully my company paid for a screening trailer from Baylor come to our office every Oct & got one - bar none.

lyn - bark, preach, & speak loud ... this is a curable disease, and as we are taking care of weight issues; the rest of the bod need attention too!!

Georgia... don't get discouraged! The point of putting the scales away was to reduce our dependance on them and what they tell us. Your success is not determined by the reading on a scale. Remember the following:

* Our weight fluctuates a lot, depending on our monthly cycles

* Your scale shows just one number, but not the % of body fat vs. lean muscle mass... your weight might have gone up, but your body fat might have gone down.

* If you feel better than you did a month ago.. who cares what the scale says!!!

My doctor put me on Iron supplements because I'm a bit anemic. She has me taking it 2x day. I took the first one this morning and it has been repeating on me all day and I've PB more times today (on very little food) than I have all week. Does anyone know if the iron supplement affects the band? The pill isn't very big and I had no trouble getting it to pass.

I hope this gets better because its aweful!

I did my run this evening and it was great! I feel soooo good afterwards! BUT, I don't feel like I'll ever get past week 3, lol! 3 minutes is pushing me to the max, I can't imagine 5 minutes and less time to walk in between. I think being out for so long with my knee really set me back. Oh well, I'm just gonna keep repeating week 3 until I feel ready to move on.

Kathy~ I'm not sure about your medicine, but I wondered the same thing about my antibiotics. (8 capsules a day!!!) I was really tight while I was on them. I just finished them up yesterday and I feel like I can eat a lot more today.

Wow, what a day. Our social worker called this morning to check on us, and to tell me that the kids are doing well. They slept well last night, and Hannah started school today. I am so glad they are doing well.

DS and I cleaned house today. Deep cleaning. I taught DS to clean baseboards. I know, child labor. LOL We really had a good time and worked really hard. With 5 kids my house had not been cleaned like this in a long time. We finished at about 8:30 tonight.

I put off yesterday's run until today, and after all of that cleaning I really wanted to put it off again, but I know myself well enough to know that I can't afford to do that. I am on week 10 which is a 35 minute run. I knew in the beginning that after all that cleaning I didn't have a 35 minute run in me. I did a 25 minute run and I feel good about that. I might run again tommorow.

I am really ready to pick myself up and move forward. I go to the doctor on Tuesday. I have still not weighed and am anxious to see what I weigh. I definately will NOT go a whole month without weighing again, but i will probably cut my weighing to once a week.

Have a great night everyone.

Georgia - don't worry about week 3. I think you're doing awesome. Especially after an injury. You don't want to start back too quickly and reinjure yourself.

Kathy - I agree with the meds. I think that is one reason why Dr. B. (my doctor) has a lot of us on Flintstones. Even small - pills in whole form just don't digest quite right. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Renewed - I think I was posting while you were. LOL. Catching up - I'm all for child labor - my kids were pulling maid duty tonight. They have one room they are in charge of - theirs. My youngest even cleaned the bathroom. I came home today and my cat had knocked (I believe a full glass of sweet tea) off the kitchen table. 1/3 of my floor was covered in sticky tea. I was not a happy camper. I ended up scrubbing the floor then getting out the steam mop. I think it is still sticky. Got a good arm workout in though - my back is a bit sore too.

Well I didn't run yesterday. My energy level is too low and my stomach was too upset from the Iron meds. Still is... yuck! I'm going to call my lapband doctor to find out if iron impacts the band at all. I was also very achy and stiff from my weight workout the previous day. Oh boy am I achy today!!!

I plan to try running today and also doing my weight routine. However, if my energy is too low after I do the weights I'm just going to walk.

Renewed... if you're still in the mood to "deep clean", why don't you and your DS come here... I could use the help! LOL. Cleaning is just not something I like or do even remotely well. I used to joke with my DH that I became a career person just to avoid housework and aford a cleaner! Now of course I'm supposed to keep house, so I do a half a#$ job of it and DH teases me that "its his job to keep house and my job to keep him!!" So of course I take him up on that! LOL.

Georgia... Week 3 is great... keep at it as long as you want and need too. You're running, and the knee is ok. Time to celebrate!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I am going to try to get back in the swing of exercise again, hopefully some running! DH has improved a little bit. I have left him home alone a couple times for a couple hours and he is managing. Monday I am going back to work so he's on his own! We have Physical and occupational therapists coming to our house as well as a nurse on the days that I work to do his IV antibiotic. He is still having some pain, but it's improving. I'm ready to get some sense of normalcy back. My 15 year old helped me alot with watching my little girls through the summer and now she cant help anymore so I am in search of daycare. My DH and I vowed we would never put our kids in daycare but we have no choice now. This is one of the hardest things I have ever done! I'm also going to have to find another job. When I started my current job I opted out on any benefits because my DH works for the state and we were all covered. Well, he converts to long term disability in about a month and they are going to drop our medical insurance! I had NO idea that was going to happen. I'm in panic mode to find a new job with medical coverage now.

Renewed - I haven't been posting cause I just haven't had much time. My thoughts have been with you though. I know what you have been going through has been difficult.

Kathy - I totally hear you on the cleaning thing! I have labeled myself a "clean freak wannabe". I love a clean house, but I just can't seem to get it that way. I wish I could have a cleaning service!

Georgia - you are doing so good! Stay on week 3 as long as you need to. You had an injury so take it slow! Maybe I'll join back in with you since I haven't ran lately.

Leslie - love your new pic. You look great!

Lyn - thankyou for all the fun things you write. You always make me giggle which I really need right now!

Luluc - I hope someday I can do a workout like you do! Holy cow!

Mamato, Wow!! Bless your heart. So many big things going on with you! My heart really goes out to you as well. Know that we are all here. I am glad DH is doing better. I will be thinking of you as you are making all of these other changes.

Mamato, I'm so glad to hear your DH is doing better. I'll be praying you find another job that provides the medical coverage you need. Hang in there.

BTW, that would be great if you start at week 3 with me. I'm sure you will breeze right past me in no time, lol. You were doing so good before your hip injury. I hope it doesn't give you any more problems.

Take care.

Mamato... I'm so glad your DH is starting to heal up a bit. I know its still a long road ahead, but it sounds like you are getting there and coping as well as you can. Don't worry about the daycare thing. Kids eventually make the transition and its a great place to learn social skills. Plus... they get exposed to all of those nasty childhood bugs so they actually become healthier in the long run! Ok, doesn't sound good, but it is!

Just a question, but if you opted out of benefits when you started, can't you now opt in? I hope you can find a position soon that offers you the health care coverage you need. We don't have the best health care plan in the world here in Canada, but at least we know we're covered for major stuff. However, I have to admit its really good that my DH got full time when he did and that we opted into his benefits. We signed up for his benefits 2 weeks before I lost my job. If we hadn't done that we would have lost our drug plan. My son's medication costs $1,500 per month! Under my DH's benefits we don't pay anything!

Georgia: Just keep pushing it...keep on keeping on with it..try not to feel defected. repeating a week is very wise! your not JUST a pretty face lol.

Last night i felt like i needed to try a long distance run so i did a 5 miles on the treadmill..i got to say its much more fun running long distance outside. I got to find a good compression shirt somewhere..my lose stuff is just flapping too much (yeah its gross)

This morning after the elpetikill and a 20 min run i tried the stair stepper before swimming...i climed the leaning tower of pissa ! lol! i think it was like 400 steps. Tomorrow maybe ill move on the the Taj mahual. One day ill get to the Sears tower.

THE SCALE: this is a HUGE battle for most ppl. I reasearched and found an awesome article..check it out if you have time.

4 Signs It's Time to Step Off the Scale

it really will help with scale obsession.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
