luluc 6 Posted July 15, 2008 I am wondering if I need to quit doing low carb. BUT.... low carb has always worked well for me in the past. renewed - when i hit wk 5 i HAD to start eating carbs (good, complex ones of course) and it SCARED me. it was also that time that i started out with my trainer weight training 2+ days a wk in addition to the hard cardio. "for me" - i will not lose if i don't have carbs in my diet, i also need to be over 1000 calories a day. you might need to play around with your diet a bit more with the more active you become. it' seems every 3 wks or so as my workout routine changes up - i need to do the same to with the diet.....shock the body some. your doing great ya'll.....all the best. georgia girl 35 Posted July 15, 2008 Thank y'all for the support. My heart was beating too fast for me to time my heart rate but I am sure it was at it's max. I think I remember seeing some sort of watch type thing somewhere that keeps up with your heart rate. Anyone know? I have a bodybugg, but to my knowledge it doesn't record that. whosyadaddy 0 Posted July 15, 2008 there are loads of heart rate monitor watches out there. either with a chest strap or no chest strap. Nothing beats a finger on the neck and a stopwatch.
georgia girl 35 Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks. I googled after I posted and found a lot of them. I found some that cost as low as $19 so that's not too bad.
lynlynkr 0 Posted July 15, 2008 Yeah Georgia girl, we ae sll with you. Each one of us (including you) took the hardest step the first one. It really does get better (I won't say easier) About one year ago I was working out with a personal trainer. She was all about the cardio work out. She had me doing what we are doing interval training. The second time we were outside and I had to run - I really though I could die right here on the street. But she keep encoraging over the weeks. (although I appreciated the support- I hated it too) Once I thought to myself "OK fine! I am going to run and when I die on the street- she is the one who is going to have to carry my dead fat body back to the gym!!! That will show her! Guess what I didn't die on the street and 4 months later I ran in my first 5k and she was by my side. I didn't run or even walk much after that and I decided I could do it on my own - then I gained 30 more pounds. I am getting my support from all of you as I regain my endurance. (If I die in the street you all have to come and carry my dead fat body back to the gym now! My trainer and I still email and she is as supportive as ever. I haven't told her I gained the 30 pounds. I get my lapband tomorrow and I plan to continue my inteval training. I hope to run in the Reindeer 5 K again in Dec. by her side. Georgiagirl - getting your breathing rythem is the hardest part; keep on truckin" Lynn I will let you know how I did with my surgery tomorrow. Say a prayer.

georgia girl 35 Posted July 16, 2008 Thanks Cutie! I love your SN BTW....too cute! I wish I had some booty, lol. I wasn't very blessed in the booty department :frown:. I noticed your surgery date is less than a month away. I applaud you and Lyn (and others too I'm sure) for starting this before your surgery. That shows A LOT of commitment and dedication. BonnieMcC 0 Posted July 16, 2008 A couple of months ago we bought Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) for the Wii and I had been doing it off and on since we got it. Since the day we got it I fell in love with it. Its so much fun. Well I recently discovered the workout mode on it that you can set a certain number of minutes or calories that you want to burn and it will keep track of it for you. For the last 3 days I have been setting it to 30 minutes and I end up drenched in sweat by the time I am done. I LOOOVE dancing anyway and this makes it so much fun! Today I did DDR before my c25k and I was so pumped at the end of 30 minutes so I went to gym (2 minutes away) and jumped on the treadmill and was even better at my run! The 3.0 that I had been walking almost felt a little slow compared to other times I had been doing it and I had no problem running at 4.0. I just think my body was really warmed up from all that dancing. I don't know if I should increase my speed before I get to week 3. Do you think I am ready for a slight speed increase. I am worried about week 3 since a few of you said it was harder! Hope you are all having a great week!
