It went good last Friday but now I am dreading tomorrow's 25 min run but with the storms we are having I may have to run on the treadmill. I have started icing my feet when I am through. I have very high arches and I have had heel spur surgery in the past and now I am starting to feel a little strain in the tendon so I am trying to prevent problems. There isn't a store in town that fits running shoes so I am going to try and get to Dallas in the next week or so. I'll let y'all know how I do tomorrow. :(

Leigh,

Congrats! Once you do that first 20 min run, it's really not hard to keep adding on the time. You're over the hump now. Just keep on keeping on!

I can relate to feet problems. You are on the right track with fitted running shoes. Also, a podiatrist could provide you with custom inserts that would probably work well for you.

I have had 2 moroton's neuroma's in my left foot and now I have another in my right foot, plus the bone fragments and arthritis in my ankle. When did I turn into an old woman! Geeze..... ha ha

I finished week 6 today, I got lucky and the rain cleared up and was only about 85 degrees. I really struggled after 21:30 but I stuck it out and finished the whole 25 min. My BB said I used over 400 calories so that is really good news. I am looking forward to being able to run for 30- 40 min and burning 500-600!

I tried to run W7D1 today, its a 25 min. run and I stopped running at 23 min and walked the rest of the 5K, this is the first time I couldn't finish a run.:( Last Friday I ran the full 25 min and today I couldn't, so I looked back at my food log on Thursday I ate 1192 cal with 98 carbs but yesterday I only ate 857 calories with 52 carbs. I am going to run again on Tuesday and so tomorrow I am going to try and eat 1200 calories with plenty of complex carbs and see if that helps.

I ran W7D2 today, and did really well. I have been running on a 5k route and walking the rest of the way after my timed runs. The first time I walked it and it took 1hr 3 min. Today I ran/walked it in 41:50. That is 2:09 less than I did last Friday. I finished my 25 min run with no problems. I ate 1189 calories yesterday with 92g of carbs, so I guess this is what I am going to have to do to have the energy to run the next day. So 800-1000 calories on regular days and 1100-1200 on the day before a run.

I am doing a 5k at the end of August, I tried to follow the c2k program but it was too easy for me at the beginning so I skipped to week 6 this week. I ran 2 miles yesterday.. I havent been running outside though, I am going to start that next week.. I am sure i will be fine by the end of august.

Thanks, Suzanne

Liftingchic--Showoff! Seriously, I'm jealous. I struggled through every week. I could barely run for 60 seconds when I started.

I finished week 7 today, I got lucky and it was cloudy. I finished the 5K in 40:43, so another minute off my time, that is a total reduction of 3:16 off my 5k time in 1 week! I will start week 8 which has 28 min of running instead of 25 so I should be below 40 min next week.

ETA: I also adjusted my eating, the eating 1200 before I run was causing me to gain so I ate very carefully yesterday and then before bed I ate 4 crackers with 1 1/2 TBSP of Peanut Butter and I ran fine today with eating 788 calories yesterday.

I am getting banded in two days and would like to start a exercise program right away.

My question is if the C2K program will be good for me?

I have a lot of weight to loose and am worried that this program may be to vigorous for me at this stage.

For those of you who have done it, at what weight would you say it is appropriate to start?

Congrats Leigh! You are doing so great!

Mariasha, you can't start exercising right away. My doctor didn't clear me to exercise until I was 6 weeks post op (other than very light walking). You have to be very careful not to over do it after surgery. You stomach needs time to heal and the band needs time to "settle in", so it doesn't slip. Ask your doctor when you can start excercising.

I think I'm going to move on to week 3 tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Hello All!

I'm new to C25K but not new to LBT community. I lost touch for a long while but IIII'mmm baaack!!! LOL I've been a slow loser, banded almost 3 years and have lost 55lbs to date. Whoot Whoot! I can be excited about it now but I wasn't for a very long time. And is the main reason why I got away from the LBT community. But I realize that I can't do this alone, frankly I don't want to either. And I'm looking forward to jumping back in with all you guys and dolls. Workin' on getting our sexy back (snap)! LOL

Enough about that ... today I will be doing W2D2. I'm excited that I even finished W1, and a lil' nervous about W3.

Question: What do you do on your off days?

I'm thinking of maybe riding the stationary bike and some free weights. Or Zumba cause a friend got me the DVD of it. I really want to TONE TONE TONE! Any suggestions?

Thanks and wish you all the best for this weeks C25K!!

Hey Sandra, Glad your here we needed a few new runners. I know success is measured in different ways but I was never 55 pounds lighter 3 years after any diet so even if you aren't at goal I still consider being 55 pounds down successful. I have not been working out on my off days, I should lift weights but I haven't been.

Vikki-- Congrats on finishing week 1! I bet week 2 will be a breeze for you.

Mariasha-- I started walking the week after my surgery which really helped with the C25K. When did your Dr say you could start?

Liftingchic-- How's it going? Are you on week 7?

I think I am going to have to redo week 8 . I should have ran Tuesday for day 2 but I had gone out of town and was sick at my stomach from eating out so I ran yesterday instead. I quit at 25 min instead of 28. I think I am running out of gas.

But I read an article on facebooks C25k page yesterday that said people who eat a yogurt 15-30 min before they run are able to run 13% longer. So I am going to try that, I have not been eating before I run, as a matter of fact I have to get up and run earlier. I ran yesterday at 8 am and it was already 85 degrees outside. So I am going to try and not be so lazy and get up about 6:30 eat yogurt and drink Water and then run around 7 am.

Good luck everyone. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
