Kristen... congrats on the 5k... great time! I know it feels great when you cross that finish line! Keep it up.

Lyn... I've been thinking about you and your interviewing. I've been saying a few prayers for you that you get this job and that its exactly what you want, cause you deserve it!!! I love your list, it is inspiring.

Georgia... great list and good for you choosing to get back on track now instead of after the next event. I always fall into that trap, but sometimes we just have to realize that there will always be that next event, and we have to learn to enjoy them while still making the right choices. BTW, I was thinking of putting the 5k under 30min on my list, but didn't cause I thought it was too tough.

So I'm adding a few more to my goal list, so here's the full list...

1. I want to have a Normal BMI

2. Next year in the Community Living run (that I ran this year) I want to run the 5k with my son.

3. To improve my family finances (now that I'm working) so we can afford a gym membership, so I can to do strength training 3+ times per week

4. To no longer think of myself as "plus sized"

5. To manage my stress so that I stop taking it out on my family

6. To run a 5k in under 35 min.

7. To help motivate my loved ones to live healthier lives.

I think these will help me re-motivate myself going forward.

krtork - Congrats!!! We need some motivation around here, check in more often.

DH and DS got the treadmill put together today. I hopped on for a 20 - 30 minute run/walk. I am trying to get used to all the bells and whistles. Well, I ended up pulling that crazy saftey key out 3 times. I may end up giving up on attaching that safety key so I can complete a run/walk without interruption. The snow is flying today, so it will nice to finally have the treadmill.

Georgia - you are going to a cookout and it is snowing here!

Now that I have lost 100 pounds and hit ONEderland, I will need to refocus my goals. Now that I have a treadmill, I want to get back in gear with C25K. I might want to start back at week 1 just to keep myself on a schedule. I also need to add a little weight training.

We had our DS 12th birthday party today. I bought one of those cupcake sort of cakes. My SIL who is also a bandster split a cupcake and had just a small portion of ice cream. I have not had any real sweets to speak of for about a year. It was really good to start with and then I just got grossed out about how sweet it really was.

Take care & have a good weekend.

Sugar... thank you! I would not have succeeded this far without their support, so to get the rest of the way, I have to include them! Congrats on the treadmill. I don't attach that safety key, its just tucked up in one of the cup holders so it doesn't come detached. However, when we first got the treadmill, my DH was going on about how it was a stupid thing to have that key... then one night I heard a crash and came running downstairs in time to see him crawling out of the whole in the wall... he turned up the speed too far and lost control. Once I realized he was ok, I laughed so hard I pee'd myself. For the next few months he wore the key!!!

Ok, I'm heading downstairs for my run. I need to run to warm up. We went to cut down our Christmas tree today, and it was freezing. Lots of fun... but really cold.

Ok, I dusted off my running shoes, put on the sports bra, and headed down stairs to RUN. Excited and motivated.

I got downstair hpped on the treadmill only to find I did not have the kill switch magnet on the treadmill. So I looked high and low, call my kid to grill the grandkids - of course no one knew antthing about it. So I had to go to the store where I bought the treadmill; they didnot have one, but suggested I call the manufacture or to get a really strong magnet to go over it. Son of a _ _ _ _ _! I am finally motivated and my BRAND NEW Treadmill wont work. I know my grand kids must have done something with it, but no is fussing up. We are having a snow "white out" - so no outside running.

OK, I will try again tomorrow

Kathy thanks for the prayers on the interview - this job is sooooo prefect for me.

Ohhh that darn kill switch! That's one main reason my DD is not allowed downstairs unattended... that and the "gaming zone" (or as I call it... the "boy toys area")

Sorry you couldn't get your run in today Lyn.

I just finished mine. that's 2 days in a row... whew hoo, kind of a record of late! Didn't go for very long, as I realized that I forgot to put on my sports bra, and the girls didn't like it!

I'm working on speed. I am trying to increase my speed from 4.3mph to 5.0mph. I used to run at 4.3 and push myself to 4.5. Now I'm running at 4.5 and push myself to 4.8 or even 5.0. So if I keep this up, hopefully I can get to 5.0 by the spring.

We have the tree up, thawing out and soaking up the Water. We'll decorate it after church tomorrow. I love Christmas... all the decorations, get togethers, fun family time and the extra kindness people offer to each other. Have a great day tomorrow everyone, not sure if I'll have time to logon, as I'm set to make gingerbread Cookies with my DS on top of everything else.

Georgia - you are going to a cookout and it is snowing here!

LOL. I guess it was more of a "cook-in". A few of the men grilled the hamburgers outside, but we ate inside. It's actually pretty cold tonight. Probably not as cold as you're use to, but cold for south Georgia, lol.

Kristen, congrats on your 5K time. That's almost the exact same time I had on my first one. Great job!!

Lyn, sorry about your treadmill. I know that was frustrating for you. Hope you find the missing piece soon, or are able to get a new one.

Kathy, I love this time of year too! I love just driving around looking at all the pretty Christmas lights. I love seeing all my family and friends, and going to Christmas parties. I love just taking the time to stop and Celebrate Jesus' birth. What a wonderful time!! Have fun making gingerbread cookies!!

I am very proud of myself. I stayed on track all day today....barely had any carbs. I probably won't run until Monday, but I am feeling much better than I was. I think I have a "lack of sugar" headache. The first couple of days of doing low carb is always rough. Anyway, I'm soooo glad I am back on track!! It's long over due.

Hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow!

Ok, I know I said I wasn't going to be online today, but had to share this NSV...

We received about 1-1/2 feet of snow overnight... yuck! I helped my DH shovel the driveway, and I wasn't tired, winded or achy! I did about 3/4 of the driveway as he dealt with the cars and played with the kids. In the past, if I did any shovelling, it would only be at most a 10th of the driveway. Not that I like shovelling, but wow, this is cool!

7. To help motivate my loved ones to live healthier lives.

Hope you don't mind Kathy, but I'm gonna add this one to my list too! I've been trying really hard to get my hubby to lose weight and eat healthier. He is "suppose" to be on a special diet for his cholesterol, but he doesn't do it. Makes me soooo mad sometimes. I'm trying my best to encourage him without upsetting him. I just worry about him. I hope he takes the initiative to do something about it soon. Anyway, that is definitely one that needs to be on my list.

1. Hit ONEderland!!

2. Shop in regular sized stores (I'm in a size 18 now, so I'm almost there!)

3. Get to a healthy BMI.

4. Run a 5K in less than 30 minutes.

5. To help motivate my loved ones to live healthier lives.

Whosya, glad you popped in! Half Iron Man? Good for you...that's awesome!! I think I'll work on doing some more 5k's and I would love to do a 10k by the end of next year. Good to hear from you!

I did intervals tonight. I got about 5 minutes into it and pulled that crazy safety key out and had to start over. I threw it up into one of the cup holders. I'm not dealing with that thing again.

I walked 1/8 mile and ran a 1/8 mile for a total of 25+ minutes. (I think since I had to start over.)

I played around with the running speeds: 4, 4.5, 4.8, and 5. I felt pretty comfortable at 4.5. Is that slow? I know I will have to work on my speed later. The fact that I am doing intervals is the important part.

Where is Leslie and Renewed and a few others?

Sugar... congrats on the intervals. I'm running at 4.5, and trying to work up to a faster speed (its been hard).

I haven't heard from Leslie for awhile, but Renewed is away for the weekend... so should be back soon. I miss Luluc too.

Took my DD to a specialist today for the rubber stamp on her FAS diagnosis, or so I thought. Turns out, although all the specialists agree that she likely has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, we now need to take her to a geneticist for an official diagnosis, unless the birth mom admits to drinking... since we don't have contact with the birth mom, that isn't going to happen. The problem is without the official diagnosis, she doesn't qualify for extra resources in school... so we really need the diagnosis. Ughhhh, this is frustrating. This is the 4th Dr that we've been to for this rubber stamp!

Ok... off to run off my frustration!

I run at a 4.5mph right now....it's slower than some but works for me.I am also short

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
