Ha GG! The wind's gonna be blowing pretty slow for me...lol. I'm getting excited though!!

Hope you all are doing great!! I need to catch up and post more...I've been remiss. I walked this morning - didn't run. I didn't want to give myself out or overdo before tomorrow.

Welcome mominflorida.

Good Luck Georgia and Leslie.

I got a fill today. 1 1/4 cc. Up to 6 1/4 cc. I hope that helps me get to the 100 pound mark and then on to Onederland.

Georgia... You are going to have an amazing run tomorrow! Enjoy every minute... even the really hard ones, as you worked so hard to earn every one!

Leslie... Good luck too in your run tomorrow! You guys are going to do great! I'll be thinking of you both all day!

Renewed... You look awesome! You must be so thrilled! I;m so glad you can get back to light exercise.

Sugar... congrats on the fill. I'm set to get mine tomorrow and then we can continue this process.

Welcome Mominflorida... its a great program and you'll love it.

Mamato... nice to hear from you! I'll say a prayer for you on the job! I know everyone here kept me in their thoughts while I was interviewing and it worked for me! I really hope you get the job!

My job is going great! I love it! Just 2 weeks in and I'm making presentations, doing strategy plans and budgets, etc. No rest and no time to learn... just jumping in and doing it!

I'm looking forward to my fill tomorrow. DH is going out to pick up some Sushi for us tonight as a last hurray for a few months... as I generally can't eat it for a few months after a fill. I figure Sushi is a really good "treat" to have pre-fill. Its full of Protein and healthy!

LOL. I was hearing the rocky music as I was running up those massive hills. Well....they seemed massive to me anyway, lol. I had a blast!! I can see how this could get addictive.

I ran all but about 1 minute of it. About 3/4 the way through, I walked for about a minute to catch my breath and then started it back up. I am on a total high right now. I already know of 2 more I want to run.

I had my best time yet.....39:03. I get all emotional when I think about where I was a few months ago and where I am now. It's sooooo amazing to think about how far all of us have come. Leslie and I were talking about doing this one again next year and maybe even shoot for the 15K....who knows!

Sorry, I don't have pictures to share. DH couldn't get off work to go with me. I should have snapped a few pics of me and Leslie after the race with my camera phone, but it totally left my mind, lol.

Anyway, I'm pretty tired and hoping to take a nap when DS goes down after lunch.

Thanks for all the encouragement ya'll. This is a fabulous support group and I'm thankful for all of you.

Georgia thanks for not sharing my humiliation! I will share it though...LOL

Okay ya'll I didn't complete a 5K - I completed I'd guess a 6 or 7 K. Ya'll I completely missed a turn arrow and ended up running another 2 miles (got lost)...I'm an idiot. So I'm not sure what my finishing time would be.

I did it in one hour and fifteen minutes...GG left me after about 1/2 mile - LOL....I'm so proud of her! She rocks!!! I'll be ready for the next one though. I did finish and that was my goal!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited and can now say I've graduated. Gotta update my siggie :-)

Leslie....no reason to be humiliated. Look at it this way....you ran further than any of the other 5K'ers. That's something to be proud of. If I had went an extra 2 miles, the ambulance would have had to zip me over to the hospital, lol. You did great!!

My son is finally asleep, so I think I'm gonna take a nap. Talk to ya later.

Georgia & Leslie..:blink:.:):eek::ohmy::)

Ok, my attempt at a major celebration! Excellent time Georgia... you broke the 40 min mark, which is way better than you did on your pactice (and way better than I've done!!!) Leslie... LOL, when I read that I'm sorry, but I did laugh. Then groaned! When I ran my race there were marshalls helping at all possible turns... but I almost went the wrong way too. So it brought back memories! Congrats on finishing!

I went and got my fill today!!!! Yeah... I'm restricted again. She put in 0.5 cc, which brings me up to 7.0 cc. The fill nurse was impressed with my progress since I was there last (April). I told her all about running.

As it was a family trip, after the fill we went to the museum and then for lunch in chinatown... I had congee (Chinese rice soup). It was yummy. Now we're home and I'm making sweet potato Soup. That will be good!

How does the saying go... "be careful what you wish for"... well, I wished for more restriction, and alas... I think I'm way too tight! Not sure what I should do now. I have to go to a 2-day meeting tomorrow and make a presentation, so can't go back to the doctor until at least Wed. I hope this is not a complete blockage... seems like liquid is just not going through. It is gurgling and bubbling back up, but the Soup I ate yesterday went down. I also ate a cheesestring this morning, which I think has gone down, but the coffee is still there. Weird. Any advice?

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
