Georgia... WTG Girl!!!! I'm so happy for you! Now you are all set for Sat. Don't worry about the weight gain... it'll come off!

Renewed... keep on sittin around and heal up so you can continue to kick whosya's butt!

Sugar... sounds like we are both very close in our battle. Its totally emotional now for me! I so badly want to get to Onederland, but also to that 100lb mark, which comes close on the heals of Onederland. I'll cheer for you and you cheer for me!

Leslie... congrats on getting back to running. I hope you're still going for the race on Sat with Georgia. It'll be a good motivator for you.

Well, I didn't get my run in today. I rolled over when the alarm went off instead of getting up, and now I'm just pooched! I knew it was going to be hard to get in a routine for running once back to work... but I'll do it!

Kathy - Yes, we can be each others cheerleader.

Kathy - 4.5 to Onederland / 11.5 to 100 pounds Gone

Sugar - 12 pounds to Onderland / 7 pounds to 100 pounds Gone

So 11.5 / 12 pounds and we both reach both our goals.

Go Kathy, Go Sugar, Go Kathy, Go Sugar!!!

Glad to hear most of you are doing well with the running. Renewed you will be back in the game soon. Taking it easy is sometimes harder to do when you are so active. But you will have the rest of your life to run if you heal well. I have been keeping up with my running 3-4 times a week and I feel great after every workout. This has been absolutely amazing journey.

I hear you sugar! I logged on and wondered if I was in the right place. Can't find anything! Grrrr!

Ok... Go Sugar! Go Kathy! yippey!!!

Well, after I posted last night, I decided that I was actually just making an excuse not to run by saying I was tired. So I went downstairs to the treadmill and ran! Yeah. I could only last 15 min and then walked 10 min, but I did it rather than give into the excuse. I felt much better for doing it. I think I might do the same tonight too.

I've scheduled my fill for Sat. My DH pushed me to make the appt, as he's heard me complain about it and knows our schedules are a little crazy now with me back to work. I have to drive into Toronto (2hours) for the fill, so we are going to make a family daytrip out of it. Stop off in Chinatown (I'll have soup) and visit some friends. With the fill, my weightloss should restart and I can achieve that goal.

Anyone hear from Luluc or our other MIA friends lately?

For those of you who are following my PS thread I am so sorry to be redundant. This post is copied form my PS thread post so I wouldn't have to type it all again. So, here is my report from the doctor today!! I'M BACK!!!!

I am doing great!! I went to the doctor today and she was very pleased. I have a couple of areas that pulled away from the sutures, but they are healing well and appear pretty superficial. The incision at my mons is sluffing off some, but again very superficial. I am putting neosporin on these areas and that's it.

I was so relieved after going to the doctor today. I have 2 very small dog ears at the top of my thigh incisions(one on each side) and on my left hip I have a little pooch. I wasn't sure if it was swelling or fat. Anyway, I wasn't sure if it was a big deal or not. Probably noone except me would notice either of these things. Well, my surgeon had noticed them too and when I am completely healed she is going to fix them. Very minor. She will do it in the office. Not a big deal at all. I was so relieved. I am VERY happy with my results and had convinced myself that I just needed to quite being so picky. I am so excited to know that she wants to fix them and that it will be easily done.

I am still having a very small amount of drainage on my back so she removed all but 4 of my staples. When the drainage stops she will take those out.

I know that sounds like a lot of stuff, but they are all very minor. I feel really good this week. I am still swollen, but less and less everyday. I HAVE BEEN RELEASED TO WALK FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXERCISE!!!!! WOOHOO!! Still no running, but I can live with that for now. I am so excited!!

I was down 10 pounds since surgery. According to her scales I have lost 14 pounds of fat and gained 4 pounds of muscle. I am not sure how that is possible since I have been mostly sitting, but at least I haven't lost a lot of muscle during this process. According to her scales I have 7 pounds of fat left to lose. I want to lose a little more than that, but i can't believe I am getting this close to goal!!

I am very excited tonight. I am starting to feel human again!! I will ahve to be careful not to overdo it with my little bit of added freedom.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers and for following my progress. DH is going to take pictures in the morning and I will post some so you all can see my results. I am very pleased!!

Just getting in the door from yet another busy day.

Renewed - I am so glad to know that you are doing well. It seems like you are making a little progress everyday.

Thanks ya'll for all the encouraging words. I'm starting to get a little nervous about the race, but excited as well. I ran today and IF I run tomorrow, it will only be a mile. I may just take the day off, dunno yet.

One of the trainers at the Y recommended that I get a Clif bar from Walmart and eat it about an hour before the race. So, we'll see how it works.

I'm going to strive to run the whole thing. That's my goal. I jog REALLY slow, so I wouldn't be surprised if I come in dead last, lol. That's okay though. This one is all about finishing.

Renewed~ So glad you are still doing well. Can't wait to see pictures!! Congrats on being cleared to walk. I know you are excited about that. Keep healing well!!

Hello my friends! It's been what seems like forever since I've posted. Life has been crazy busy. I interviewed for a new job yesterday and I can't even begin to tell you how bad I want it. I have my hopes up so high. It is a managerial position which would be so much better then what I'm doing right now. Better environment, better hours, better money. I have not had any time to fit in exercise lately and consequently have not lost ANY weight. With this new job I wouldn't have to be to work so early so that would make time for exercise. YAY! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Renewed - Congrats on your surgery and I'm so glad you are recovering so well. I've been thinking of you lots and I'm sorry I haven't posted to you sooner. I am anxious to see your pictures:smile:

Georgia - good luck with your race tomorrow!

Everyone else... hi there and I'll have to do more reading to catch up on what's going on with all of you!

Thanks guys!!

Georgia, you are going to do great on your 5k tomorrow!! I can't remember who else is running. Blame it on pain meds. LOL I am not even taking pain meds anymore. Maybe Luluc or Leslie, or both. Anyway, big cheers for everyone running tomorrow!!

Mamato, I am soooo hoping you get this job. Saying prayers for you!!!

I posted my pics on my PS thread. I posted a bunch of pics, so I am not going to hijack this thread with them. Here is the link. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/renewedhope-headed-flatlands-76071/

Go to the last page and they should be there. There are 3 posts of pics, so make sure you see them all. I am not super happy with the pics we took this morning. They are at an angle instead of straight on, but anyway.

Have ag reat day everybody!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
