I was on a liquid diet during Easter. It can be rough when everyone is filling their plates full of good food and Desserts, but I had my mind set on my goal and did fine.

As far as shakes, my doc suggested Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks. Some stores offer them already mixed and most offer the powdered mix. I like the already mixed better.

Good Luck and Happy 4th.

I, too, can identify. I started my liquid diet 2 days before Memorial Day weekend (surgery June 4). We went to a family reunion with people from all over the country and I went along with my cooler filled with Optifast shakes. I have to admit that I did make it through the 2 days without touching anything at all the barbecues. However, on Memorial Day with just my family, I had 1 tiny macaroni from the salad, a small cube of potato from the potato salad and a tiny pinch of my husband's hamburger. Now I'm looking forward to a veggie burger on the 4th!

Stick with it - it's worth it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
