Hey there! I had my 1st consult with Dr. Holover on the 17th. I have my first appointment with the cardiologist today. I'm hoping to get everything done soon but I have Aetna and they require a 6 month physician supervised weight loss regimen :girl_hug:

Oh well...it will be worth it. I just hope it all goes by fast. I'm anxious :girl_hug:

How do you like Dr. Holover? So far he seems cool :rolleyes2:

Hi Amy,

Happy to say that it is now 1 month and 1 week since I had my surgery and I am doing great... I don't know how much I have lost yet, I am waiting for my next appointment with Dr. Holover on the 24th of this month. I know I lost, I can feel it and people have said it.

Keep me informed and all the best.

Hey Jo Ann!

I'm sure you're doing great. Congrats on the surgery. I hope to be where you are very soon. :rolleyes2:

What do you think of Doctor Holover? I'm getting nervous because I haven't read too many positive posts about him and his office staff on the OH Forum. I thought he was great but it's the after care that I read was lacking. I even read something about him cancelling a lot of appointments post surgery.

Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated. I need to know that I am making the right decision as far as he is concerned.

Amy,

I have never had a problem with Dr. Holover or with his office... If anything they have been extremely supportive and helpful.. I would have to say that the only problem I have had is that there is a long wait when you have an appointment but in long run it is totally worth it.

Oh just so you know... Anne at Mercy hospital is wonderful. She is the head of the bariatrics there.

Have you attended any of the support group meetings that are run by Dr. Holover and Dr. Garber? They are the 2nd Tuesday of every month and are very informative. Sometimes wish they were more often.

Hope this helped...

Thanks so much, Jo Ann. I haven't attended any meetings yet. I will be sure to attend as I get closer to having surgery, though :rolleyes2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
