3 Meals a day?

Recommended Posts

I know that after surgery, you're supposed to eat 3 meals a day, and no snacking. Do any of you snack or eat more than 3 times per day?

I was told five meals a day, no bigger than the palm of my hand. Don't know if that's right but that's what I've been doing.

I think my Snacks could be considered meals I suppose. I'll have a yogurt or some low fat cheese and grapes. Even the snacks are Protein based. I prefer to call them snacks...it makes me happier. LOL!

WOW, my nutritionist said to eat 6 times a day. 3 meals with a snack in between each meal. Of course it was all healthy snacking like a string cheese, piece of fruit, etc... She said even if your not hungry to eat a lil something to keep your nutrients up.

Originally the nutritionist told us 3 meals only & no snacking. But when I went for my fill appt last week the physician's assistant told me to add in 2-3 Snacks a day to keep my metabolism going. It's working so far. I've lost 3 lbs in less than a week.

My doctor said 3 small meals a day, no Snacks.

I dont know about you guys, but that would NEVER cut it for me! My "meals" are usually 4-5 bites. A fly couldn't live off that :)

I try to have 6 small meals throughout the day. Granted, sometimes a meal will consist of an Oreo and a few Doritos, but, I'm trying.

I think it's all about the calories - try to stay around 800-1000 per day and you'll be fine!

I was told 3 meals a day no Snacks and that really works best for me. Once I start snacking I tend to keep going!

Exactly! I was told the same thing and while I am not drawn to snacking as I once was, I avoid it to avoid the temptation of "just one more."

If I am hungry, and it's close to meal time, I will just eat my meal.

If I feel I just can't wait, I try and deflect it with Water, a distraction, etc.

There have been a few times when I just had to eat something.... and I made sure that I had only a single serving of something healthy and small - just enough to not be starving.

The nurse at my surgeon's office said they used to tell people 5 small meals, or three meals and a snack or two, but they found that it turned people into grazers, so instead they recommend three meals with one snack if needed.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
