I was banded June 4th this year, I have lost a lot since the surgery but when I saw my doc she said that isn't normal. She said in the first two weeks she usually see's her patient gain weight and or lose a pound or two only. So your 8 pounds is great.

One thing I have tried really hard to stick to is no carbs...or very low carbs. I am on the mushy stage for another week and while I can have things like mash potatoes I avoid it cause of the carbs. That is the one thing my doc said would help me lose more weight and so far it is working.

Chin up, it sounds like you are doing just fine.

Don't get too worried over your weight loss right now. Our bodies are made in such a way that if you aren't taking in enough calories, at first it thinks it is starving so it will hang on to the fat. Eventually, it will let the fat go when you get that balance of calories so that your body doesn't think it is starving anymore.

I had the same doubts as you. I was drinking liquids for the first two weeks and hungry by day 9. I was able to drink liquids right down without getting nauseous or anything. I added Protein shakes and that helped. I got my first fill and started pureed foods and I could tell that there was more restriction. I can only eat about 1/4 cup of pureed foods at a time, but I do get hungry between meals. I am only supposed to have 2 meals a day, but have been eating 3 meals and 2 Protein Shakes a day. I drink at least 6 glasses of tea or liquid a day on top of that so I really stay pretty full all day. I even keep a Water bottle near my bed so when I wake up in the morning, I have a little Water so I don't feel as hungry and I chew lots of sugarfree gum because I think the chewing helps to keep me from eating.

Ywong I don't usually say anthing to much about how we all do our different diets etc ..Our surgeons know the best..

I have to say this you shouldn't chew gum at all ... If by accident you swallowed it it could be a very bad situation.. There was a posting not so long ago ..A lady accidently swallod her gum and it stuck ..

It is one of the things we should never have ..

Just had to throw in my two cents. Be careful
