I have been prequalified for the lap band surgery and was originally set for 6/12/08 but I cancelled because I felt I was not informed enough. I even considered going to another surgeon, who has told me that he will not do the band on anyone with a BMI over 45. This rejection led me to LBT and I have so happy with the information that I have gotten from all the various post and forums.

I am very anxious and want to schedule the surgery asap. I was never put on a pre-op diet and that has been my basic concern.

Wish me luck. :Angel_anim:

Hi Boopie:

Good to hear from you, yes I really like the Pasadena/Altadena area. In fact, I have lived in Asia, Africa and traveled all over the world, came back to sleepy Pasadena. My kind of place.

Have you been banded yet? My band date is Oct 13 at Huntington Hosp.

Anne

NOpe no banding just yet, it looks as if I may have a long road ahead of me. My insurance is through Kaiser, and they require this long drawn out 6 month pre op diet and extras. So Im waiting now to be called for the seminar/orientation. I did all labs yesterday, so its just a matter of time. Time that Ill be taking into my own hands by the end of the day(Im gonna call them myself). And then I guess Im off for the race yay...:crying:. Step by step, baby steps at that.....

Boopie

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
