UPDATE: My foot pain

Recommended Posts

OK my MRI appt was at 4:45pm. I was asked to arrive at 4:15pm to get paperwork done. I arrived at 4:05pm.

I was called back at 4:50pm

I was ignored for 45 min other than to tell to put on a gown. I was put in a drafty waiting room. I raised hell and was told there was an emergency inpatient on the table ahead of me. I said "What emergency?" There was NO ONE on the table. There was NO ONE in the area. I said get me on that table NOW or call your admin to tell me WHY!!! 15 min later I was on the table.

So it took me 20 min to have the MRI.

I spent 2 hr and 40 min waiting for the MRI.

I had a headache prior to the procedure. I have a Migraine now. Gonna take something eat something and go to bed. Oh and the pain med my doc gave me for my foot makes me nauseated and has a hang over effect. Anyone heard of Tramadol? That is the pain med. SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this f$%^&*(ing MRI doesn't show something I will be even more pissed. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK done venting now. Gonna go rest.

Someone let me know how Idol goes tonight. No wait I can tape it.

Penni:

I am a chiropractic physician...Licensed in Oregon to practice obstetrics, gynecology, proctology and minor surgery as well....although I don't do ANY of those things....I had to prepare for them in my clinical pre-graduation days as they are part of the licensing act....I limit my practice to spinal biomechanics, extremities, and such as 'wellness care', nutritional evaluation, all common forms of headaches, sciatica, degenerative disc and other spinal conditions...lots of typical complaints....'subluxations' relating to abnormal functioning of the spine, extremities and nervous system......

The insertion of the anterior aspect of the plantar ligament into the bones of the forefoot is the second most common site of spurs...and sometimes there are other calcific changes in the soft tissues of the foot....true spurs are a product of osteoblastic bone cell response to chronic traction forces resulting in a spur developing on the cortex of the living bone...many causes, it's an exciting thing trying to reverse the body response to long term mechanical stresses...arthopathies such as Rheumatoid don't offer the kind of clinical response to such as 'simple spurs'....

and other findings as Morton's neuroma and many forms of arthritis are less responsive....if you don't have calcification of the toe joint capsules or tendonosis, ultrasound is a potential benefit for your condition...PM me if you want to discuss this further...

What??

I did understand the PM me if you want to dicuss this further part... LOL LOL LOL

I always knew there was something extra special about you Jack:0)

Penni....I am so sorry about the bone spur. I can only imagine your pain. I feel for you too about the Cortisone injection...they do hurt like holy hell. (I had one in my ankle....oweee) Hopefully it will help though and you can keep from having surgery.

Let us know what happens.

Hugs to you.

I was on tramadol for a while during one of my many back pain bouts. I didn't care for it; I got sleepy and nauseated. I'm glad to hear you don't have a bone spur -- but sorry that the mystery remains unsolved. And the MRI people stink! I've worn those lovely gowns for spinal and gyne MRIs, but why did you have to wear one for your foot? To make sure you weren't wearing metal fasteners inside the machine?

Hope you feel better soon, Penni. Keep us posted. I'm with Kathy: go see Dr. Jack!

Went to see the Podiatrist yesterday. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He put a cortisone shot in my joint. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a nice little bruise on that area now. Actually he didn't hurt me putting the shot in cause he put enough lidocaine in there for a horse. LOL!! We both think a nerve was touched or nicked when he injected the cortisone cause my second, third, and fourth toes are still numb. He said that will go away in time. The overall diagnosis is I injured the joint in my second toe somehow and caused an inflammation. It has been getting worse over time and he said to stop the process he needed to do the injection. So right now I can't tell a difference. IT hurts like a mother. I am flying tomorrow to Florida to visit family over the Memorial Day weekend so hopefully I can give it a rest.

Anyway, that is the update. I go back to see him in three weeks. He said most likely this one shot will do the trick but if not then it might require an additional shot. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
