Recommendations: Doctors in North NJ?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, it's nice to make your acquaintance.

I'm in Little Falls and seriously considering this procedure. Could someone point me to a surgeon in my neck of the woods that they have a good experience with? Lets say within a 15 mile radius around where Route 3 meets 46. I would prefer not to go into the City if it can be helped. Extra points for taking United Health Care.

All advice is gratefully appreciated:smile:!

I used Dr. Nusbaum in Livingston. I have only great things to say about him and his staff - I was banded on Tuesday, 6/24 and I am doing fine. Best of luck with your search! MM

I got banded on July 7, and I used Dr. Edward Pucci in Denville. The group is Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons Of New Jersey. They were excellent and I am pretty sure they have a few locations.

Hi, I'm using Dr. Beth Schrope, she is located in Ridgewood and they take UHC. I am scheduled for 12/23, she was very personable and the staff is great. They are very on top of everything and helpful, with all of my questions and concerns they were always there with an answer.

Belated thanks to all for your responses. I got derailed from this after I first posted, but now I am back on track with Dr. Nusbaum, aiming for an early February date. Again, thanks for all your help!

Not North Jersey but if there is anyone looking for a physician in the Central Jersey (Princeton) area, I used Dr. Chau from NJ Bariatrics Group. He was and is great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
