I was notified today by my surgeon that they had a cancelation and can fit me in for surgery on 7/8. I am soooooo excited (and a little nervous). BUT I need to start my pre-op diet on Saturday and I have not purchased any Protein drink products. The dietician gave me 3 samples of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I tried the vanilla and it was okay, but I haven't tried the others because I was thinking I had another month before surgery.

Does anyone have any recommendations for others products that you liked and your surgeon approved?

Thanks!

My surgeon sells Isopure whey Protein Shake. I have forund this to be on of the best! I love the chocolate and I also like the vanilla. You can pick it up at the Vitamin Shoppe. Good Luck, It also comes in other flavors like punch, Cookies and cream. Haven't tried them yet!

My doctor put me on Carnation Instant Breakfast Protien drinks. Some grocery stores carry the already mixed bottles. I prefer them over what you mix with milk.

During the pre-op and post-op diet I drank 4 or 5 a day. They are packed with Vitamins and minerals along with your protien.

I still drink one most days because I like them and they give me a full feeling. But I do not rely on them to give me my protien count for the day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
