Please help...very hungry, and 1st fill is 2 weeks away!

Recommended Posts

hello,

i was banded may 22, and i was feeling full much quicker for the 1st few weeks, and now i can eat alot more, and im frustrated. i dont get full as easily, and i dont stay full as long. my 1st fill is july 8th, i dont know what to expect, and im wondering if anyone has any tips for me to make it til then? i already called my surgeon to get in earlier, but hes booked solid. im afraid ill gain back the weight i lost because i can eat more. and im also wondering...what does everyone eat all day? i have a slim fast for Breakfast, piece of fruit for a snack, a lean cuisine for lunch, 100 cal snack pack for snack, then a meat and veg for dinner, and sf Jello or sf pudding for dessert. it seems like so much to me. i know i have alot of questions, but any feedback would help alot. thanks.

If it helps at all, I could eat anything as of yesterday and the only way I was stopping myself was counting calories with www.thedailyplate.com and it was getting really hard staying under 1300 calories and I was starting to make bad choices for food.< /span>

I got my first fill today (gained 2lbs in two weeks) and hoping this helps, but I just ate a whole can of tuna fish and fill the same as yesterday so I will hang in there and see if the hunger returns as fast.

Good Luck and hang in there!! :tt1:

What you are going through is very common. I felt the same way before my 1st fill. The time before your first fill is for healing and any weight loss is a bonus. You have no restriction so it will be hard but you can do it. My suggestion is to increase your Protein. The lean cuisine and Slimfast will not stick with you very long. Solid protein is your best bet.

I don't like my band to be tight so I don't have a lot of restriction. I stay away from Lean Cuisines because they slide right through because there is usually a sauce on it. If I have 3 ounces of tuna I am much more satisfied.

Follow the band rules:

Protein first then veggie

Chew well

No drinking with meals or 30 minutes after

Good luck!

Make sure you are getting plenty of solid Protein. That will keep you fuller longer. Start your day with eggs or some bacon or sausage, followed by more protein during the day. That should help.

the slim fast is high Protein, and my dr wants me to have one a day, and im not much of a breakfast person, so i just drink it then. i also told him about what i eat daily including the lc's, and he didnt say anything.(i still have to keep a food journal) he also told me im allowed to have soda, as long as it doesnt give me any discomfort. im so confused...

another question...how come you cant drink with meals? i dont drink alot, but i may have a sip or 2...what can this do?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
