any toronto bandsters-

Recommended Posts

I am fortunate enough (or unfortunate..lol...home with 4 kids:crying:....no pay) to be off for the summer so I waited until then (July 3rd) to have my surgery. But I think energy wise and tenderness of the incisons, I would have liked 2 weeks off I'd say. I guess it depends on what you do at work that would determine how long to take off. I hope all goes well for you on Tues. Congrats on becoming a Bandster!!!:cursing:

I was banded on July 25th at TLBC. I've been off work this week, and though I've been up and about around the house from the get go, I'm hoping returning to work will be okay on Tuesday. How much time did you guys take off after being banded?

I was actually banded yesterday (july 31) at TLBC.

I booked the following week off work. Figured I deserved it, and really didn't really feel it fair for my coworkers be victim of me on only clear fluids lol :cursing:

Thanks Guys....

I actually did okay with the clear fluids. In fact I still don't have much of an appetite, but I want to eat. It's weird, like i just want to taste the food. I started the full fluids on Wednesday and have been enjoying the yogurt and pudding so far.

Hello all; I had my surgery 2 days ago on August 1st with Dr. Yau. My energy is good, pain is not bad. I am not taking any meds for it. I find everything so salty, so I am making my own stock right now. I found the Protein Shake before the surgery was a good Meal Replacement, and not salty at all. I look forward to the leaving clear fluids.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
