Dang my mouth is dry

Recommended Posts

:tt1: I want a drink! Feels like the old army has tromped through this mouth of mine. It's one of the worst parts of surgery - no liquids beforehand. I'm going in to fix my port in a couple hours. I'm a little bit nervous but it's supposed to be a piece of cake. Crossing my fingers and toes. I really need a fill even though I'm afraid to be too tight. The last couple of nights I've had the last meal syndrome. I know it's a mix of nerves, depression and just wanna get a few things in before I'm too tight to eat them. Anyone know if they unfill me when they do this? Really hope not cause I'm close to my sweet spot now.

I'm home and high as a kite on pain meds. Pretty sore but it wasn't too bad. They did use general anesthia instead of just a local with sedation. He went in thru the same incision site so that was nice. It turned out to just be a kinked tubing. He removed the scar tissue and unkinked it. And bonus - he did a fill right on the table. Can't tell much but I feel a bit full on half a yogurt. Seems to be staying down fine. Hard way to get a fill but glad it's done. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. It helps so much to know you have such good friends on your side.

Glad it is over for you and glad it was not anything too serious. Take some time to rest. Remember to get up and walk around some so you don't get blood clots. :Angel_anim:

I'm doing pretty good. I have to go in and see the nurse this morning because my incision site is getting really red and hot. They think it's bruising or cellulitis (some kind of infection thing). I don't think it's bruising cause it's still bright red with no signs of bruising after two days. Either way I'll know in about an hour. I really didn't need to miss another day of work though.

Hey Ezma, I haven't really been around much so I hadnt seen this before. I'm so glad things went good for you! Hang in there chickie and things will start moving back in the right direction as far as your band goes.

Woohoo! Back in the game -- best of luck!

She wasn't sure about it so she called the surgeon and had him come over from the hospital. They ended up giving me some antibiotics because he wasn't sure if it was infected or not and didn't want to take a chance. It started clearing up real fast after I started taking them and now it's shrunk way down to just two coin-sized spots. I'm so glad it is too I was very afraid that they would have to open it to drain and he said they would have to take it out if they had to do that. Eeek.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
