Hi Everyone, this is my first post. I enjoy reading everyone's post since I've found the site! :( My name is Sherri and I live in Alabama. I'm 33 and before I had my surgery I was at 335 being 5'3. I have been so miserable these last five years and I'm thankful to the band that I am actually losing weight. I started gaining weight when I was about 21 year old.

I was banded Feb 19th, 2008. I haven't had any real problems at all up until today when I had my first..well I'm not sure what you call it..but I had 2 nuggets from Chick Fillet and It got stuck...I wont get into detail but that was the worse feeling,,I thought I was going to die. I finally made it home and I wont gross everyone out with the details..but I got it out. I know I'll never eat there again!!!

Anyway, I haven't lost as much as some of you and I contribute that to my lack of exercise which I am starting to do better. I have just been lacking motivation lately with the slow loss.

I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Welcome Sherri! Sorry you had a rough day. No matter how careful you are, it just happens from time to time. I do good with that for awhile and then for no apparent reason, it happens a few times, then I go back to normal. I guess it is part of band life :tt1: Glad you have joined us!

Welcome to our Band! You'll like it here.

The dreaded PB has probably happened to most of us. Just be careful how big your bites are and how well you chew. Some days I can eat things and other's the same thing doesn't go down so well. I think it just takes a lot of concentration and practice.

38 lbs in four months is great weight loss. Most doctors don't recommend losing no more than 1-2 lbs a week so hang in there, you are right on target. Exercise will definitely help but you have to start slow so you won't hurt yourself. Start walking around the block a couple of times and build up from there if you aren't in a routine already. When I had my surgery I had been going to Curves for three years so I was already used to working out pretty hard. For someone who isn't used to it, you will just get discouraged if you try too much too fast. Try to do a little every day and before you know it you will be walking miles at a time and enjoying it.

Come back again soon!

Welcome to the group and you are doing great! Most of us have had that stuck feeling and/or PB'ed before, so don't feel like you are alone. And as far as your weightloss, you are doing great with that too. Technically, anybody who has lost at least 16 lbs by now is doing QUITE well as that is a pound a week. You have more than doubled that amount.

Can't wait to get to know ya better!

Welcome to Victorious Valentines! I'm so happy you've found us. This board and my friends here have helped me more than anything else. I can always jump on and get answers to my questions, support, encouragement and suggestions. It's terrific.

Don't let your PB experience scar you for life. We've all done it. Some days I can eat something with no problem at all, the next day that same thing will nearly kill me. You'll learn to concentrate when you eat so that this doesn't happen all of the time. Eating slower and chewing carefully are good habits to form, regardless.

Again, welcome, and we hope to hear more from you!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
