Tell me the reason you picked your brand of band

Recommended Posts

I don't want to start a "my band is better than your band" debate. My question is, if you were able to pick Realize or Lap-Band what band did you pick and why. Thanks for sharing!

I chose Inamed because i'm having surgery in Mexico and more DR.'s where I'm from will do fills on them.

i have a lap-band because that's what my doctor chose lol

up until my fill i had assumed i had the Realize band but nope... he felt the lap-band would work better.

I chose the Realize band because I liked what I read about it. My doctor told me in his opinion there was virtually no difference between the two of them. On the one hand the Lap Band has been used in the U.S. for a long time; on the other hand the Realize band has been used in Sweden for a long time before it was approved for use in the U.S. this past year. I suspect my doctor is right and that it doesn't make much difference, but since I had to choose one or the other, I went with the Swedes.

My doctor made the decision, Lap Band! He is the best and I trust him..... never gave it a thought.

I did hear something about J & J just changing the box on a old band style....... didn't follow too close though...... since the band is a tool it is really up to the individual.....I think that there are like 5 bands out there now and more coming out.....

I did hear that the Realize band has a great support website.......but I have this forum and you all plus the opinions here are unbiased!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
