I had my class yesterday and started my 2 week pre-op diet today. I just feel so overwhelmed with all of the changes in my life that are to come! Anyone else feeling discouraged with the pre-op diet and have any advice? I know this is broad for discussion but I am new to this and wanted to share my feelings!

I am sooo excited for the outcome! I will be banded July 8th.

Thanks everyone!

I have made it through the liquid pre-op and liquid post-op and only have 2 1/2 more days on the mushies. :w00t: I completely understand your feeling of being overwhelmed and frustrated. The liquid pre-op diet was very hard. I had days where I was just a bear and others where I just wanted to cry. The first 2-3 days are the hardest. Just take it one day at a time, remind yourself that this is just temporary, it will get better and it will be sooo worth it. Take in Protein as soon as you feel hungry and drink plenty of Water. Come here for support when you need it. With the band in, the post-op diet is much easier. And when you finally make it through to solids again you will be so proud of yourself for sticking with it.

I must admit though, after nearly six weeks I can't wait until Friday so that I can actually chew on something.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
