dld512 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Hello Everyone. I have just made my first consult appointment. . . I was hoping to find some advice regarding this journey? I am 26 and have been overweight my entire life. I have tried too many diets and weightloss tools. I have never had these things formally documented by my doctor, do you think this is going to hurt me? I am 100lbs. at least maybe 110lbs. overweight and my BMI is 40. I don't have any other documented co-morbidities. Any help is appreciated.
kiz 1 Posted June 24, 2008 Hi, dld, and I think you'll find this board has a lot of great advice and information. I'm pretty new too, but I've already learned so much here. I'm self-pay, but I'm sure if you're more specific with your questions, you'll get some good advice. Because I don't have to get insurance approval, I don't have to have my weight history documented. Different insurance companies seem to have different requirements. I know during the seminar I attended, they did say, for instance, you could use your Weight Watchers profile, had you been a member, so I don't think it always has to be from the doctor. Minxz 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Which insurance are you working with? I think each one varies greatly on what they require to approve you.
brookepanda 0 Posted June 24, 2008 From what I've been reading on this site the documentation varies from insurance to insurance.... I myself am in the same boat as you as far as the documentation. I've done it all....though never had any of it documented...I have not however done weight watchers in a formal way....I did it by printing up the points info online and following it that way....so again...no documentation. I personally searched for my exact insurance in the search box and found a lot of helpful things  As far as I can see my insurance doesn't require the documentation....but I can't be certain until I hear back from them after my consult. dld512 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Its a local insurance company CDPHP. Capital District Physicians Health Plan. I do have some online info but I am not sure it spans 6 months. . . have about a month of info (weightloss info) currently. If I have to self-pay I will, I am just scared about the possibility of something going wrong and then that also being not covered.
