If there was a way to know taht people wouldn't spend up to a year finding restriction. It's a very individual amount, everyon really is different.

there is no way to tell how many of cc's a person is going to need but i do have a 10cc band and i have 5.3cc in right now. i think i'm a bit too tight because the first 2 weeks after this last fill i PB'd after everything i ate but right now i can eat around 1/2 cup per meal and i'm full!

thank you Kalipso for that information it was helpful. On the other hand Riviera what kind of an answer is that I understand that everyone is different I was just trying to find the average and wait you haven't even had your surgery yet so I don't understand how you could possibly answer this question I posted. Stick to what you know now because believe me you don't know anything about the lapband and how it works until after you had the procedure done.

I was banded on Jan 17th....I've had 3 fills so far in my 10 cc band. Currently at 6.6 cc's and feel this is my sweet spot, although mornings are VERY tight and I still PB or slime if I eat too fast or do not chew well enough.

best wishes,

Stacey

Try not to get too fixated on the total amount of fill or the amount of each individual fill.

How much fill you will require to feel the appropriate amount of restriction is totally individual based on your anatomy and a number of other things.

I've heard it said that there are only 3 fill amounts (and 3 fill levels): not enough, just right, and too much. Just like the 3 bears.

The point is, there really isn't an average amount. Some people never require any fill at all, others require 10+ fills to reach that point. The total amount can vary from 0cc to 10cc or even more (yes it can hold more safely).

Sorry you didn't like Riviera's answer but it was actually not a bad one.

I have my first fill next week hopefully! I know it won't most likely bring me to my sweet spot but I see this as training for it! I mean, right after surgery...I was not hungry...now I guess I am in "Bandster Hell" but I am actually doing pretty well most days...I long for the day that I am restricted but as I take a big chug of Water and realize...oops I should sip the water...I realize that I am in training...and thank goodness or I might have just gotten sick...the same for when I eat too fast or too big etc....

So, I just hope I am not in training for too many months! It reminds me of training bras...couldn't wait and then BOOM BOOM...too late now...Now I always need a real heavy duty bra! I used to joke that I prayed too hard!!! LOL......

Good Luck and hang in there!

I was banded in Feb. I have had 6 fills and can still eat quite a bit. I have 6.25cc's at this point and only feel a little restriction. I have not lost any weight since thefirst 15 pounds the first month out. I am wondering if this is going to work for me

hang in there.....it will work.

call and make an appt for another fill. Self control plays a huge part of the weight loss though....so make GOOD choices and eat your Protein first. No drinking with meals...that is a biggy!

good luck:)

I was banded on May 13. I had my first fill on June 26. He had me hold my legs straight up and hold, hitting the mark first time. I held 5cc with it seemed no problem. My doctor backed it to 4cc to be safe for a first fill. For about the first 2 days I felt a tight feeling. Not really painful just a little uncomfortable. That feeling passed and I feel fine now. I could eat more than I am but I am trying to keep it at a low amount for fear of the PB's. I have been able to eat everything I have tried so far, without any problems.

I also was banded on May 13th, had my first fill on June 20th, 2.4cc. I have no restriction whatsoever. They just made me lie down and do a partial situp, he found the port, filled it and after i drank a couple of sips of Water and that was it. I have only lost 7.5lbs total. I hope it gets better. What foods do you eat? Any suggestions?

Hang in there. It took me 4 fills to feel restriction. I am at 4.5 cc's in a 10cc band. After the first 15 lbs lost from liquids immediately following surgery, I only lost 2-3 lbs a MONTH. That was frustrating, but now it's gotten much better. I am averaging 5-6 lbs a month.

OF COURSE everyone is going to be different....

GOOD LUCK!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
