Hello, I am new to this site. I had my lap band 5/22, So in 2 weeks I get my first fill. I just started on solid food and I am scared to death, I can eat almost anything I want, and that scares me to death. I am afraid that I will go back to my old eating habits. I have talked to my surgery and told him that Im afriad that I may gain weight and he told me that if I do I can lose it.

I have done so will, MY pre op weight was 238, I know weigh 210. Everyone tells me how good I look and I am scared to let people down. Does everyone feel this way or is it me just being stupid? I also would like to know if anyone has any good recipes for chicken, we are going camping this weekend and I want a good low carb dutch oven chicken recipes.

I am so glad that I found this website. Oh maybe you would like to know a little about me. I am Kelly, I have 2 boys 11 and 8 and a very awesome husband. I live in Idaho, I work part time at the hospital and I am a mom. By kids( including my hubby) are into football so I have football all year around so I am very busy I sometime wonder how I got fat as busy as I am. Jsut wanted to say Hi and introduce myself.

I was banded the same day & was scheduled for my first fill today. Fortunately, I don't need it, so I cancelled.

What I do is make sure I eat every 3-4 waking hours.

I eat mostly Protein.< /span>

I never put more than a cup of food on my dessert plate & I eat with baby cutlery.

I have instant oatmeal with skim milk, raisins & ground almonds or an egg scrambled with an ounce chopped cheddar & some ham, for Breakfast.< /span>

Since I work off hours, I have a protein Boost drink for lunch. A hard boiled egg or a Protein Bar would work too for something quick.

For dinners, we have made up 1 cup freezer containers of about 8 different one-pot meals like chili, stews, chicken, brocolli & rice, ground turkey spagetti sauce with a tiny bit of Pasta, etc. Campbells has a bunch of one pot recipes using their Soups.< /span>

My evening Snacks are things like cottage cheese with canned or fresh fruit, yogurt, hummus or guacamole with rye crisps, almonds, a spoon of Peanut Butter etc.

I bought almond butter today, so I am going to give that a try tonight.

I do really have to work at it to get Water in. I use to drink almost 2 litres per day, but with having to wait an hour after I eat, I tend to forget, so I try to drink at least half a bottle each time I get in the car.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
