Thinking of cancelling surgery

Recommended Posts

*PBing, sliming, vomiting, slippage, weight gain, slow process, have to be committed, severe incision pain, gas killing me, starving, hungry, port problems, taking forever to hit the sweet spont, nauseous, etc.*

Granted, I'm just under 3 months out, but I've experienced almost NONE of those things. Nausea MY OWN FAULT the two times I ate too much sugar. PAIN, once when I ate too fast. The rest? No problem. No gas pain. No port pain. No slippage (at least not yet). No other issues.

But even if I had ALL of those, the weight loss and improved health would be worth it. Because, bottom line, that's what it's all about. If most of us could do it on our own we would have already done so.

Whatever you decide, think it through thoroughly!~

Had my LB surgery in Feb and have never thrown up. I have taken too big of a bite before and did the slime thing but that was my fault because I did not chew well before I tried to swallow. I am so glad I had the surgery and I would not have said that the first 3-4 weeks after the surgery because I was sore. Don't look at the problems you may or may not have or the soreness after the surgery. Look at four months after your surgery when you are well and feeling great. And you will feel that way each month after that. It only gets better for me. Good Luck!

Everyone has their own experience. I would say from what I read before my surgery most are good. I on the other hand am one of the negative experiences. I won't go into detail as I don't want to scare you or bring you down but I will say it hasn't been as easy as I thought. I wish I would have read more negative stories so I would have been prepared. When the bad stuff hit me I was shocked cause I never dreamed it would be like this.

I am 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. I have lost 32 pounds and it has been very hard. You just have to go with your heart and gut...even if I would have read more bad stuff I wouldn't have changed my mind about surgery but I would have liked to have been more prepared for the possibility of the bad things I have gone thru.

Stay positive and know there are tons of people here who will help you along this journey. I know cause they have been there for me and have been my saviing grace many times.

Best wishes and keep us posted!

I looked into wls 3 years ago and I felt like you. I did not go through with it at that time. However, it stayed in my mind and eventually I came to the point earlier in this year where I finally decided to make the plunge. I only have one very real regret . . . why didn't I do this sooner?

It has been a great experience for me and for many others. Definitely review more posts regarding polls on regrets or satisfaction, look at people that have posted who have had the band for some time. I think what you will find is that there are a lot more happy banded people than unhappy banded people.

liquid stage is no fun, but it passes and you don't have to go back.

If you decide not to go forward, where will you be several years from now?

Thank you noahsmom for posting my exact fears. I plan to have WLS but had begun leaning toward the sleeve instead of the band which is my first choice. My mom always said if you look for something bad hard enough your going to find it. Curious as to what could happen to me I come in here and search the word complication, and scare the dodo out of myself! After reading the replies to your post, I am back to my original plan. I know I can do this! I need to stay in the more positive posts.:w00t:

Take care and good luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
