A Great Find - I may be in love

Recommended Posts

I am sure I am not the first person to mention these. But I just found them on Saturday and I am already in love! The "Starkist Gourmet Seas" ready to eat tuna. It comes in like 5 different flavors and a resealable lid and when you are already thinking, thank you starkist, they add a little fork so you can take it on the go. They are 3.5 oz, Perfect. Delicious, Perfect. They have 5, count them 5 different flavors, Fabulous! They are only 100 calories and they have 16g of Protein. They have a little more to them then just tuna, they have a little sauce and a little onion or Tomato. At Target they were just $1.39 each. You can't beat that price for a whole lunch in Manhattan!!

What flavors do they have?

I've been buying the single serve, flavored, Bumble Bee tuna. They only have 3 flavors and I'm addicted to the lemon pepper. I didn't care for the Thai spice and it was loaded with sugar. I bring them to work for lunch once or twice a week. I also toss them in my suitcase when I travel, in case I can't find something suitable to eat.

I have heard good things about them. I am just worried they will be dry. I have to put something in tuna even if its just a small amount because it's so dry. How are they in comparison to regular tuna?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
