So am now a week post op, I had my done through the Hospital Group in the UK, and the op was performed at Chelsfield Park Hospital in Kent.

Hope everyone is coping ok, I have been fine but the hunger has come back now the swelling has gone, I have been advised this is " Bandster Hell"

Good luck to all!

Hi Ki,

I am not doing too bad. Thus 1st few days I found I was pre-occupied with taking the pain medication and having friends round to see me and it was all a bit of a novelty in a way ( sounds a bit strange to call it a novelty but I think you know what I mean!)

But I noticed on Saturday my appetite coming back and feeling a bit peckish, whilst definetly sticking with liquids I craved more and my old food insecurities came back with me not knowing when to stop.

I have felt a bit weak also but I think I need to get some Protein shakes as I think this may be the problem. Yesterday I felt quite low and although again, sticking to the diet, still consuming too much I think.

I am worried about the next few weeks as once I go towards solids, how I will control it.

How about you?

C x

I know what you mean on the novelty front! Every one and their dog has been in to see me at work I have been feeling a bit like a freak show lol. I am healing really well and am really happy with that, I was on a sloppy diet straight away mash and yoghurt and stuff. I have not really had any low moods which is nice I had been expecting some! Sorry to hear you have been feeling a bit that way :grouphug:

PM me if you wanna chat

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
