Did you taste buds change after being banded? I'm just wondering I will still have a taste for my favorite meals.

Yes, mine have changed a lot! I crave healthy foods now. When I go out to eat, I get really excited when I see that they have a really great fish that I haven't had for a while. I've never cared much for plain Tomato Soup, and I pratically lived off of it during the post-op liquid stage. I still crave it. I went to a working lunch the other day, and they had pizza. I turned my nose down at it...didn't even look good to me. I still like spicy foods, and fortunately I can tolerate them just fine. I do have to admit that I still crave chips and salsa but have been a good girl and haven't had any.

There's also that negative conditioning to deal with. If you put four dozen donuts in front of me right now, I wouldn't be tempted (well, not much.) I associate them with pain, not pleasure, now.

I found that the more I had to chew my food, the more I had to actually taste it and found there are a lot of things I don't like, but I still love my favorites and eat them occasionally, in addition to that I no longer crave fast food... it has to be the chewing, because it has a really bad taste after a couple chews. So the short answer is absolutely my taste buds have changed... for the better....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
