New with questions for future

Hi I am will be getting banded soon, I hope. One question I have is about life changes. So are popcorn, celery, all soft breads, completely off the eating list forever? I can understand the soda but the rest of the list? Thanks for the info. JuneR:confused::ohmy:

Every one is different June I have no problem with Popcorn..most of it is a personal trial issue you need to see what you can tolerate or not...also every fill changes things a bit.... the ultimate goal is to give you maximun restriction without causing pain or vomiting. My third fill was the trick I have had a fourth 1cc and now I'm taking three months until my next visit.

God Bless,

Ken

You won't know until you try these foods. Try them with caution, lots of chewing and in small amounts. I can handle rice if I'm careful. You will know quickly if you can handle them. SS

The key here is in your second sentence. Life Changes. You have made the decision to change your life and that will involve changing what and how much you eat. The cool thing is the band is a fantastic tool to help you make those changes. You will find that you don't want to eat the same things as before. I would have to say that I do not feel that I am "missing" anthing, except maybe beer  I can eat just about anything in smaller quantities but i am amazed by the things I no longer want.

Good Luck

Craig

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
