Thanks smarquezrn and orea, I am back on board and going to have the surgery. Im not ready for more radical surgery. Im not 100% how much good the lapband will be for me. It may help some but not as much as it helps others, but anything will be better than nothing.

I woke up upset again with my mom and the part of the conversation we had about that stupid sub we share 4 ways on Sunday mornings. She wants me to help my sister cut back too and says that is twice as much sub as we need. Heck Gerald on the commercial has a whole 6 inch by himself to lose weight, but that way too much for us? No mayo, mostly salad stuff, I always ask for extra lettuce on it. My mom thinks 2 inchs of sub is all a portion should be. No wonder I have had food issues all my life.

The news today is saying something like 1/3 of Americans either have diabetes or are at risk, I know that's me. Im close and will be in that catgory if I dont lose enough weight.

The seminar did discourge me in thinking this will be an answer, I admit it, but any loss will be better than no loss. The lady running the seminar did lose 140 lbs on the band before she had problems and gained 45 lbs back because of bad reflux and changed to the gastic sleeve. She actually has written a book on her weight loss journey. She said its been documented that there are 10 foods that people on the lapband have trouble with, but everyone has problems with different of the foods, not the same ones. I found that interesting. I had been wondering why one person says they are eating salads but not popcorn and the next isnt eating salads, but says they are eating popcorn.

Anyway, by last night I had emailed them back that Im 85% and today Im 99%, still have some reservations, but this is the only choice for me right now I feel. If later on they come out with a new way to lose weight, then its still possible and reversible. So, Yes Im going to do this.

thanks for your words snowbird that you still eat some junk food, its not 100% off your diet. I cant do without 100% for the rest of my life, I know it.

thanks friends. I needed some friends now and everyone in my life says "well I cant tell you what to do", no one seems to be there to talk to other than my mom who drives me nuts.

To put it kindly, your mom has issues. I'm sure this isn't news. LOL I think you have made a good decision. Get the band, do your best, and if you don't like the results, tweak what you are doing so you can do better. It's really that simple.

As for the statistics you heard, remember that it is just an average. There are lots of people who lose all of their excess weight. I know a bunch of them. Others get within 10-25 pounds of their goal weight and are struggling to get that last bit off. Not a bad place to be, right? And of course there are those who don't lose much at all. But generally speaking, if you follow most of the rules most of the time, (and ignore your mom!!!!) you will be 50-100 pounds lighter in a year. And you'll be tons happier.

We'll be here to support you all the way.

I just read this on the smartbandsters list and thought I'd share it with you, flowers.

What does the band do?

I would say that the band helps me feel like I'm in control of my

weight. It helps me feel satisfied and full after eating. I'm not

saying that it's not work but it just makes all that effort, previously

put into dieting, worthwhile because you get results! (And then you

get to buy smaller clothes!)

Sounds good, huh? That thought is going to help me get through all this irritating testing that's coming up for me.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
