Just want to thank you all. I started a new job working nights and with the new schedule and being nervous I had a hard time with eating and found myself PBing quite a bit. My day off I figure I'll be okay with eating, but my throat was tender and my chest hurt and I would burp a lot even drinking my Propel Water. Even herb tea would not pass without pain. Scared me, but I read on here about trying Aloe juice so thought it can't hurt to try. Picked up some this morning and took the 2 oz. Been sipping water, tea and a Protein soy drink all day and have been feeling so much better!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Yep, Kelly's the gal with the info! It's working for me, too. I feel oh so slightly better with my self-diagnosed esophogitis. So I am keeping at it with the Aloe Vera juice and the Prilosec. Great combo!! Yay Kelly! Happy for you too, Darcey. So do you like you new job and schedule? other than the food/eating issues, that is!

Special thanks to you Kelly!!!! Hugs and many blessings to you!

Kathy-Yes, I do like my job and the new schedule. Just trying to get used to it. I now work from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am Sun, Mon, Tues and every other Wed. Luckily my first week I got the short week so I'm having a 4 day weekend right now! Yay! Job is very interesting. Think it's going to work well once the eating issues are worked out. Thanks!

Hi Teresa,

I would love to you meet up with you and Tracey (and the new baby), but I'm working nights so I'll be at work then. My schedule is 6:45 pm to 7:15 am Sun, Mon, Tues and every other Wed (this will be my long week).

Thanks for the invite! Hope all is well with you. Tell Tracey hi for me.

Darcey

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
