Jillian68 0 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey fellow Jazzy Juners!!! I am curious if any of you are tracking your food intake and how many calories you are getting each day. I am tracking on The Daily Plate and seem to be averaging 800 per day. I am on full liquids right now. I feel like I should be getting more, but I am eating (or should I say "drinking:tongue_smilie:) when I am hungry and stop when I feel full. I am also getting about 50% from protien, 30% carb, 20% fat. But my dr. recommended about 2200 calories. Thanks for your input... Jill
snuffy65 1 Posted June 21, 2008 Not sure why the doc would suggest 2200 calories a day. Even the most basic of diets require only 1800. Personally, I am shooting for 1200 calories. Most is going to come from Proteins. Trying to keep my carbs unders 80G's a day. I use Calorie Counter - Free Online Diet Journal
cathychatts 1 Posted June 21, 2008 I am adding regular foods very slowly. I got the Realize band and they have a website for their band patients. You get a card with your band number on it and they have a complete support site. It is great! It has all sorts of tools and you can even customize your goal and it makes the model of before and after, like in virtual model. I am posting my calories on it. I have been getting an average of 1100 calories, yesterday I had 2200:cursing:! As my swelling goes down, my hunger goes up! I do feel restriction however! I have to eat very slowly or I feel like I have swollowed something the wrong way and it HURTS! I haven't lost any more lbs since I started on reg foods, but I am holding the loss from before 15lbs in all! Great2BThin 5 Posted June 22, 2008 I just started using My Daily Plate, midweek week as I ran out of room in the journal the dr. office gave me and there I was only tracking Protein and fluids. Since on daily plate, I've only averaged 400-500 calories a day. I'm eating 4 oz every 3 hours and I am on mushies. I get to add solids on Thurs. so that should start going up then. Carrie D. 0 Posted June 23, 2008 I'm just starting solids tomorrow, although I think I've been slowly transitioning over the weekend. I'm up 3 &%$%$ pounds since Friday. I am getting frustrated because I'm logging my food on the Daily Plate and I'm eating between 700-900 calories a day. I swear I'm logging everything. I'm keeping my fat gram below 30 and my Protein 60+. I'm told this is normal, but it's EXTREMELY frustrating. Cripes...if I'm only eating around 800 calories a day, I want to lose some weight. :grouphug: Okay, now that I'm done throwing myself a pity party, I hope I answered your question somewhat. 2200 calories seems like a lot to me. My surgeon recommends 1500 and below although I know all surgeons are different.
ImGonnaLose 0 Posted June 23, 2008 I tracked my pre-op diet on TheDailyPlate, but haven't tracked anything since my surgery on the 19th. I know I'm not getting the calories/protein I need, so I need to try harder. I plan to re-start my tracking this week. I haven't had much pain, and only twinges in my shoulder from gas. My main problem has been a tightness around my chest (and just below my breasts), which gets worse when I eat. I think I'd be fine if I could just burp!!!!! -Marianne
ajpink 0 Posted June 23, 2008 It's day 7 for me and only been on liquids so far. Really struggling to even get 500 calories in me. I'm meant to be on a full tin of Soup by now but half is more than enough for me. I literally can't fit any more in me. I feel full ALL of the time. I had a milky Decaf coffee yesterday to up the calories so 500 yesterday and 400 previous days. I even wake up full!! Amanda xx
brown bear 0 Posted June 23, 2008 I signed up on The Daily Plate and plan to use that to help me get through bandster hell. I really do not want to gain weight between surgery and good restriction. I believe the only way for me is to journal the food because I tend to lie to myself about what I eat. :grouphug:
vzghj3 0 Posted June 23, 2008 It's interesting to read the different calorie/protein goals for everyone. My Protein Goal is 75-85 and calories 700-1000. Just started day one of soft foods and after that on to regular foods, yipee! The Beaumont Weight Loss Clinic provides a nice 30 day Nutrition and Exercise Tracker that is check book size; so it is easy to carry along. I'll have to check out the Daily Plate tool.
