fatKatie 0 Posted June 20, 2008 Hi to all of you...I'm a 61 year old who had lap band surgery on May 22 in Topeka, Ks. I got along fine and now am in lap band hell waiting for my first fill on July 8. I've maintained the 18 pound loss but it's really getting hard. How painful is getting a fill? I'm beginning to get a little worried about it. Also, I don't want to have to go through PB'ing. Any replys would be so appreciated. fatKatie:tt1:
BobbieDoll 3 Posted June 21, 2008 Hi Katie, I had my first fill a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't bad at all. Just a little prick. I had 3.5cc's put in my 10cc band. I could definately tell the difference even when drinking Water for the first time. Just be sure to eat very slow, take small bites, and chew well. It only takes a small amount of food to satisfy my hunger. I have MS so don't get the exercise that I need but hopefully I will become more mobile as the weight comes off. Good luck to you, Bobbie
JoannMarie 0 Posted June 22, 2008 Hi Katie, I've been working with the Topeka group, too. However, I am a Medicare patient and there seems to be a backlog of us at Tallgrass/St. Francis. It looks like it may be many months before I even have my consultation. I'm looking into other options and may be able to move the process along through another center of excellence... I was impressed with the Topeka folks. Was your experience good? I wish you best of luck. JoannMarie
SusieQ1964 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Hello to everyone:redface: I just turned 62 on June 17th and I am so glad that I got the Lap-Band Surgery. My surgery was on March 11th 2008. Everything went fine. If anyone is suffering from Right Abdomial Pain or pain in your between your shoulder blades you should check with your Dr. you might have gallbladder problems. I was having all the above problems and talking with my Dr. I went to the ER the pain was so bad. My Dr then sent me in for an Ultra Sound, and the next week the office called and said I was fine. Well 2 days later I got terrible pain & thought I was having a Heart Attack, off to the hospital and after 2 days my Dr ordered a Nucular CT and they found out it was my gallbladder, it had stoped working. Had surgery 2 weeks ago, the pain is gone. I had had 3 fills and have lost 56lbs. I am very so HAPPY! I know that we can all do this & be sucessful. It takes One Day AT A Time. Remember your Protein it is so important to your body. God Bless, Susan Boise, Idaho
fatKatie 0 Posted January 26, 2009 Hello to the gals from the sixties!!! My computer shot craps in June and I have been lost. I'm so glad to get back on. My lapband experience is taking a slow but successful time. Let me hear from you and I will try to answer. I am somewhat computer illiterate. Laura steele 2 Posted January 29, 2009 :thumbup:Hi Katy,I had my Lap-Band done in August of 08 and have had three fills.I can tell you ,there is nothing to the fills as far as pain goes. They give you a local first and it doesn't hurt at all.Don't know why anyone fears them. This last fill ,last week, has really made a difference in how much I can eat. Before that I could eat just like before surgery.I have lost slowly also but remember we are in our sixties! good luck and hang in ther:tt1:e,Laura
