November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge

Recommended Posts

Cindy,

Congrats on the fast weight loss but I think you are right to get an unfill. My last fill was only .25 cc and I know if I had gotten .5 I would not have been able to eat solid food. It is amazing how much a small amount of Fluid can change restriction.

I had a big weight loss this week, almost 7 pounds. A few of those pounds I had gained over the last couple of weeks but at least they are gone now and I am back on track.

Let us know how you feel after the unfill.

Jill, 7 pounds lost in a week is amazing! I would have been more than happy with that. How can .25 make such a difference? I'm wondering if I'm still swollen from the fill which is causing my problem. Instead of trying to guess, I will take care of this tomorrow. I can't wait to eat solid food. Mushie food would be a welcome change!

It does seem weird that .25 can make such a big difference. I've heard people talk about getting .1 and it making a huge difference. This band is a weird tool but I love it.

Jill, you should be almost at your summer meltdown goal! We have the same final weight goal, 130. I haven't been down there for 11 years. I can't wait and I have no patience for dieting which is why I let this fill go for this long. I'll see if only taking out .25 will be OK. I have a feeling that they will want to remove the whole .5 and wait till my tummy settles down. If I get another fill after this, I'll ask for only .25.

WOhoo I finally finally lost 2 pounds!! I had been stuck at 182 for forever. I think I am going to break down and go get a fill, I keep putting it off as I don't have the $350.00 for it, But I think it's time to break open the piggy bank and get one.

I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon yesterday, just a start to see what kind of magic he might be able to do on my tummy.

Down 1 more which makes it 11 pounds in 10 days. More than I lost 10 days after surgery. I'm done with this fill. I can't even keep a thin shake I got from the doc's down. Before this gets as bad as Linda's problem, I'm calling the doc tomorrow and getting an unfill and maybe an x-ray. .5 should not have taken me from being able to eat too much to not at all. The fast weight loss was fun while it lasted but today I feel weak and tired from lack of nourishment. This taught me a lesson. I was probably tight enough before the fill and need to learn how to work with my band better. I was expecting it to do all the work and stop me from eating. Time to take more responsibility. At least this craziness got me under 200.

Cindy I feel for you. However, don't beat yourself up to much. You are doing just fine. Everybody has different reactions to the band. Some are more sensitive to the fills than others. You are going to have to be really careful with your fills and go with your instinct. Your instinct is what will get you to goal.

Cindy,

This is why I put the fill off for so long. I had issues with the last one but not this bad. I posted on my other thread that today I can't get down more than Clear Liquids. Its like the band closed off the stomach almost completely. I just spoke to the nurse practioner who gave me my fill. She's going to unfill .25 tomorrow morning. I'll let you know if it works. If I'm still having trouble, they will do an x-ray.

I'm hoping that my stomach won't over sag because I really don't want to have plastic surgery. My main concern is that my face is showing some aging since I lost the weight. I wish I had done this earlier in my life but then earlier in my life I wasn't so big. It's only been in the last 10 years that I have let myself go over 100kgs. I was always between 73 - 90 kgs for most of my adult life. Maybe some botox can help?? I'd love a boob lift and of course those saggy thighs and arms... I think I'd better leave well alone. Once you start on one thing, then everything else looks even worse. Just like when you renovate, starts off with the bathroom but then the other rooms look old and need redoing.

Shalee, you're doing great! What did the ps surgeon have to say? I'm thinking a Tummy Tuck might be for me too. Can't wait till I'm actually ready for that!

Had my first plastic surgery consultation Saturday with J. Timothy Katzen. He specializes in weight loss patients. It was very hard to stand there and show off all the extra goodies I have and hear the Dr talk about them, so embarrising, eek.gif He was very kind and patient and answered every question my DH and I had, didn't rush us and tried to explain very clearly to us.

Of course I need a complete overhaul,,hehehe but the consensus is to start with the Full Tummy Tuck/mons lift. He doesn't think I will need the inverted T cut,as I thought I might because of all my upper tummy skin, extra rolls. he said he could make the decision when he got in there But just checking me over it doesn't look like it, (Hmm I'm not so sure tho)

He also lifts the mons as part of the tummy tuck on all his patients. WOHOOOOOO my cookie will see light of day again. redface.gif

He showed us how much skin he believes he can remove from my tummy, Uhmm I'll believe that when I wake up and see it.

He does Muscle repair, also said he would most probably need to move my port. I told him I like where it's at and My Dr has no problems getting to it, he understood my concerns and said he and my Lap Dr would collaborate on the move.

I asked about a 360 lift just to see what he would say, and he said Not for me, as my outter thighs and butt are really good with good shape, and to do that procedure would flatten my butt and not give the results we would be looking for.

AS for my girls I have always been a "C" cup whether I weigh 300 or 150, that's just been me always. and right now they are a very deflated "C"

So my small droopy breasts will need a lift and small natural looking implants. I told him I didn't want no tupperware bowls sitting there. If he were to just a lift it would take me to a very small B. That just wont work for me. so a lift and implants to take me to a full "C" or small "D" .

He does use the pain pump, it's $500.00 extra.

Well that was just the first Dr I have seen. I will be seeing a couple more. Hubby and I both really liked this Dr . He is quite expensive, so not sure if I will go with him or not, OR I may just get the tummy tuck and do the girls later.. We shall see after having my other consultations.

We also talked about my Arms and Inner Thighs. But for me my first priority is to take care of the Hanging tummy.

I was hoping to get the TT and Boobs taken care of at the same time, But I really dont think we can afford it all. So probably just TT first.....

We shall see what the other Dr's consults say and then decide from there who we like the best and which one will work out best for us.

I hadn't really planned on looking into Plastics so soon, but I have been stuck at 182 for almost 4 months now, But I have lost sizes and my body is reshaping, so I made a phone call and just happened to be able to get a consult this past Saturday.smile.gif

Shalee, did the ps doc say how much more you will need to lose before he does the surgery? What will the TT cost? Is there any way to get insurance to cover it? I heard that insurance covers for some band patients if the overhang is causing rashes or yeast infections. I wouldn't do my arms. I don't think visible scars are a good trade. I scar badly and it takes a long time for them to fade. My band surgery scars are still thick and dark pink.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
