how do you handle the fatigue?

Recommended Posts

im EXHAUSTED ... as in it takes every ounce of my being (and there's still a lot there!) just to stay awake at work.

today i even went to my car and took a 45 minute nap.

other than going to bed earlier (starting that), any suggestions?

Are you taking a good B complex? The B Vitamins increase metabolism and thus energy. Exercise also helps fight fatigue. I know it doesn't make sense, but it actually gets rid of the sluggishness.

Otherwise, I don't know. I am tired too. It seems like such an effort to go through daily routines - but they have to be done. Let me know if you find a good solution.

Just a thought but is it too early for pre-natal Vitamins? My friend recently started taking some (at 3months) and it's helped her a lot since she has MANY health issues (including severe RA) that she can't medicate while pregnant.

With the additional pain she's been having her energy level was zapped. The Vitamins actually got her to the point where she could make it to work (she's on light duty due to being a high-risk pregnancy).

I got pg after being banded for about a year. I think having a 2yo and still working pt helped add to my fatigue. I am the rare person who started drinking coffee during pregnancy vs cutting down. I had a small ice coffee in the afternoons and it was immensely helpful in getting me through the day. My doc said 1 cup was fine.

Best to you!

Whoa, LJM, I had no idea! Congratulations! It has been years since I was pregnant, but I remember how tired I always was the first few months. I used to take lots of cat naps. I used to get a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon, and would always go to the staff lounge for a quick nap, and one of the girls would wake me up. I would nap at lunch and the first thing I did when I got home was nap. I don't know the cure for it, but I hope you find some relief.

LJM - I hate to say it, but more sleep was really the only thing that got me through. Bummer is... now that I'm in the 3rd tri, it's starting all over again!

Oh the joys of pregnancy. It seems to be par for the course and a little unavoidable. I had to keep taking catnaps or become a zombie. Good luck.

Ack, its awful. I remember it well.

Play princess for a while sweetheart. Put your feet up and see if you can get your DH and DD to wait on you a bit. Go to bed early when you can. Dont worry about running or exercising if you dont feel like it.

But is like so many things to do with pregnancy and parenting. Its bloody awful, it feels terminal, you think its going to last for ever, but this is where the mantra comes in *this too shall pass*

Hope you're not even reading this coz you're snoring.

Congrats on being preggers. There is no way to get through it except to get through it! I remember no tired like first tri tired. DH says I slept 15 Hr a day. He thought I was going comatose. Take it easy! It will all be worth it.

oh at home its not an issue at all... DH thinks i am nuts, but he just lets me sleep. we were talking (in bed) last night and i fell asleep practically mid-sentence...

its at work that i worry about... i have upped my caffeine a tad (stupid McD's iced coffees are addicting)... i find if i have one in the early AM, i'm ok til about 2, then i have a small dose of caffeine for the ride home...

BUT, sometimes that just doesnt work and im forced to go to the car and sleep...

i've already been questioned by an office-mate if i'm preggers (i smiled, crossed my fingers, and shook my head no...)

ultrasound is in 3 days - not counting today of course... :)

I had horrible fatigue my first trimester, but not sleep fatigue, just worn out fatigue. Normally I can shop all day, and I would go to one store and be like, "Whatever, I need to go home." Then when I got home I would just want to sit on the couch.

In the mornings when I was getting ready for work, by the time I was ready to leave the house I was exhausted.

For me, it come on overnight. And it left overnight. Saturday I felt exhausted, woke up Sunday and felt fine and have felt fine ever since. So just patience, really. Maybe get up and walk at work, no matter how tired you feel. The additional blood movement should help you feel more alert. Splash some cold Water on your face, something like that. It should pass.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
