Hi All

I got banded on 19 May and had my first fill on 15 June. I must admit to be a bit frustrated at how slowly things seem to be progressing for me. the fill wasn't as painful or frightening as I had feared but would be really interested to hear from others as to how long it took to get the fill "right" and at what stage you really started to see the weight come down.

Thanks

Lauren May

Hi Lauren, I'm new at this as well, I had my band put in June 5th, I'm concerned I'm eating wrong but that's a different story...I have a good friend that had her 2nd fill this morning, the DR put in 1cc of saline & had to take it back out because she couldn't swallow the cup of Water he gave her...So she has had only 1 sucessful fill, she said she has 6cc of saline in her band now.

Can I just ask you about what you were eating 2 weeks after your surgery? I thought I could eat pureed foods but the more I read I think I'm supposed to be having just liquid. Oh boy I hope I didn't mess up my pouch :-(

Started liquid diet pre-op 5/10 lost 23 lbs. 2 weeks after surgery now and total weight loss is 32lbs. I'm happy with that...

Phyl

32 lbs is fantastic ! I've managed to lose only 14 lbs since starting the pre-op diet but we'll see how things progress. After 2 weeks, i was moving to pureed food and was pleased to get it as I was beginning to feel hungry again ! I'm sure you're doing fine - i think that if you feel bad after eating the pureed food that's just a sign that you're not ready. Take it slowly and avoid drinking for 30 mins either side of eating.

Lauren & Phyl welcome! I was banded May 13th already had 1 fill 20 days post-op (didn't hurt) so I have 5cc's in my band and was on solid foods 21 days post-op. I have no restriction so I am hungry and can eat anything as long as I chew well or I get that golf ball in my chest thing. Phyl 32 pounds is amazing I am only down 18 and in the last 2 weeks only lost a half a pound. My next fill is July 16th so I am hoping for some restriction!

Keep up the good work!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
