First of all, welcome to the board. This is the place I discovered a few weeks before my surgery and it helped me so much. I was nervous and didn't know where to turn and I found lots of support and great answers here.

If you want this surgery, you're going to do great. I've been feeling great and losing weight since my surgery on May 21st. I already feel like this was one of the best decisions I've made in years. I asked tons of questions and felt well armed for the surgery, there are lists on here for things to get in your house before the surgery (great help), look at the pre-op question section for ideas.

Now, ask your questions and good luck

You are so nice for answering me! Nobody really wants to discuss it with me, it is like it is taboo! I will look around and ask some questions as they come to me! Thanks Again!

the people here are more than happy to talk to you. People you know who haven't had the procedure might be reluctant because they don't know what to say. I'm happy to help you however I can so feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions and I'll answer as quickly as I can

i was banded 04-21-08 and i have to admit... being banded is one of the most difficult things in my life bit i would NOT give it up for anything!

these couple of months have been a struggle. what to eat.. what not to eat.. how much to eat.. not being able to eat after this last fill.

i'm having to learn my body all over again and it's scary but also exciting because i'm loving the results.

did i make any sense???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
