:cursing:Hi!

I was banded on June 11 2008 so 8 days ago!! WOOO!!

Do you think it would be OK for me to eat a super small serving of refried Beans? Like half a cup or less.

I did have some ramen noodles in my broth yesterday and those seemed to go ok. I chewed them ahaha!!

I have been on this liquid diet since May 28th and I need some flavor and something with a different consistencey besides juice BOOST Protein shakes and yopliat light yogurt. Oh and low sodium chicken broth!!

I can't imagine a few spoon full of refried bensa would hurt if I eat it slowly and pay attention to what my body is telling me.

What do you think?

It depends on what your doctor's post-op instructions are. I was allowed to start eating mushies on Day 8, including refried beans... so if your doctor says mushies are ok on Day 8, refried Beans works! If he's still got you on liquids, he would not want you eating refried beans.

I ate taco bell pinto's and cheese from about 10days post op...I called the Dr and he said it was okay...He also said it would be good Protein.< /p>

The first time I ate them all I could eat was about 1/2 of the taco bell serving..but they were oh so yummmmmyyy...

Well here is what he gave me as a schedule.

June 14th-25th all lquid diet like pre op

June 26th-July10th purreed

July11th-July24th soft and mushy

July 25th start adding little silds on a daily basis till I am back on regular foods.

But honestly I cannot imaging refried Beans would hurt. UGH! It's not the food I want tis the texture I'm dying for something other than liquids.< /p>

oh well... back to my Protein shake

Go by your doctors orders first of course. I was having refried Beans about that time after surgery. I think it is good to mix them with something during the pureed stage because you dont want to eat them too thick. I started by mixing in some broth (half Beans & half chicken broth) so that they were not so thick and had a very tiny bit of melted cheese on the top.

It is funny, when I had those first refried beans after liquids for soooo long . . . they tasted like heaven. I can't remember enjoying any food that much for a long time. I couldn't believe that I did not think they were all that awesome prior to banding. I don't even eat them now :0). I think I was just dying for something with a little taste and a little body to it.

Well then I would say on June 26th you can have the refried Beans. Remember you paid a lot for this surgery, you want it to heal right and work at it's optimum for you. Don't do something against your dr's guidelines.

Listen to your Doctor!!!!

You are still healing from surgery and you don't want to risk putting stress on your stitches.

Yes, it's a serious, valid question, but when I read the title of your thread all I could think was, "Wow, that would be a GREAT idea for a zany game show!"

Sorta like name that tune. AHAH I can name that food in one bite ahahah!!

I'm sticking to my required diet I can tough it out for 5 more days. I do go for a follow up with my surgeon on Monday so he may give me the OK sooner.

Thanks for the giggle!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
