Back from my ist fill!

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill of 1.5 cc and I have been able to eat mushy stuff today. is it necessary to do the two day liquid. The nurses say its a suggestion but trial and error see what your body can handle

My nurse told me 2 days on liquid i.e. Slimfast, creamy Soup etc. She never told me it was optional. I just go by what they say. I guess it could be either way. Anyway my two days will be up this afternoon so I will be trying something different for dinner tonight but nothing heavy. I think a lot of this is trial and error, so to speak. There are people at work who are eating and drinking things I was told to avoid at all costs. They tell me their doc said in moderation but I am trying to stick with my doc's program. :(

Hi ~ I get my 1st fill tomorrow (7/10) I was banded on 5/27/08. When I called the Dr. office today I asked if there was procedures prior to the fill (eg. no drinking or eating), and she said no... Stil wondering about that. Any comments or suggestions?

I had my first fill 07/07/08 at 1:15pm and had a salad for lunch before I went. You shouldn't have any problem if you eat before you go. It doesn't take them that long to do it.

I have to do Clear Liquids for the rest of the day after the fill, and then the day after that. Then I can have mushies the third day and then solids the day after that. I don't know why I have to do clears, but it kinda makes me irritable. I think it should just be mushies and see what your body can handle.

I was told to eat mushies, SF pudding, Slimfast, and any other liquid for two days. I guees it is all up to the doctor.

Yeah...maybe it has something to do with the type of band that you have also. I don't know. I was starving after my first fill when I was on Clear Liquids. I wanted mushies so bad, but my hubby was being strict with me, which I guess was good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
