How to Break a Plateau

Recommended Posts

I got this at one of the support groups I went to right after I got the band, but I am not sure who gave it out. It said that some saw results in as little as 1-2 days.

How to break a plateau:

Do this for 10 days to break a plateau

Drink 2 Quarts of Water per day

You must have 45 grams of Protein supplements and take all of your vitamins/mineral supplements each day.

You can consume up to 3oz of the following high Protein foods 5 times a day:

Beef, Pork, chicken, Turkey, Lamb, Fish, eggs, Low-fat cheese, Cottage cheese, plain yogurt/artificially sweentened, Peanut Butter, Beans/Legumes.

You may also have:

sugar free popsicles

Tea or coffee

sugar free Jello

Broths/bouillions

Crystal light drinks

If its not on the list, don't eat it. Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 minutes of exercise a day.

I haven't tried it yet, so I can't vouch for anything working or not. But if someone is really struggling, why not try it?

I haven't tried it, but it seems like it should work because it's basically cutting out most carbs (except in the yogurt and beans) and consuming Protein and drinking lots of water/fluids to help flush things out.

When it says "must have 45 grams of Protein supplements" does it mean in addition to the 3 oz/5 times a day thing?

I am guessing that means Protein shakes, or smoothies. I really can't remember who gave it out.

But I guess with that 45g Protein, plus the protein from the 5 3oz servings, you are doubling your protein for the day, so maybe that is why it busts the plateau.

Actually, I have hit a couple of plateaus . . . and even though I did not read of a plateau breaker, I was essentially following this plan on my own and it worked well. Lean healthy Proteins, tons of Water, up the exercise and withing a few days I was back on the decline. :0)

It works, thank goodness for that. There is nothing worse than getting on the scale and seeing that it is not moving in the right direction.

Thanks for posting it, Chrisann.

OAKY I have been looking for a plateau buster I will try this out. I have been banded for a 14 months no complications at all but have found a way to fool the band while eating. I could not eat any bread, cake ect.. at first. But then after a short while about four or five months of PBING I figured out to dip my toast in coffee or my cake in milk and it would right down and could eat as much as I wanted. starting weight 342 weight now 280 to 292 back in forth I do workout some try to go on 3 to4 miles runs/walks. have got about 9cc in vg band. biggest problem DRINKING WHILE EATING I KNOW ITS WRONG any ideas on this drinking while eating? thanks in advacned for your reply..

It looks just like phase one of South Beach diet to me. It does work, but another way to break a plateau is to just change things up a bit.. If you are eating too little, eat a little more. If you aren't working out, work out for a week.. stuff like this. Some people eat the same things every single day.. switch out your foods, add something new... this will usually break a plateau, but plateau's aren't always a bad thing either, it shows you that your body has accepted your new weight.

Called NOS (as in the go fast gas for cars Nitrous Oxide) that comes in a small bottle. Now I understand there are probably a lot of bad things about this type of artificial aid, but oh my God it really worked. I took the shot as I left work and went straight to the Gym. By far the best workout I have had in years. Lots of energy, quick recovery from the weights, and felt great even after I got home. Of course I took the drink at 7:00 and did not fall asleep until after 2:00 am, but it was worth it.

This to me is a great plateau buster as it really did allow me to push myself harder than I usually would have.

I find if I cut out the carbs for a few days, the scales start moving again. I get stalled out and bounce around that 4 or 5 pounds and then it will be gone one morning.. carbs is a killer for me. I've had to really watch the junk along with the good stuff.. exercising for me, helps alot.. I think it's body in motion, the fuel is burning..

slackaction... I try to do none, but probably get in about 5grams.. that would be from some of the Protein mix, etc.. I do tuna, chicken, protein shake(w/water).. sugar free jello.. those things.. I try to stay below 30gms of carbs for the day normally. my protein intake is around 70 daily.. give or take.. some days it will 80 some 60, but never below 60..

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
