Ellis Hosptial Bariatric Center NY?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any experience with the center at Ellis Hospital?

I am scheduled to attend the weight loss seminar there and was wondering if anyone had any inside information. I have been there before to visit a nutritionist but never met any of the doctors or surgeons.

I'm in the process of planning my LB surgery with Dr. Ingram. I went to a seminar at the beginning of May. I really liked Dr. Ingram when I went to the initial consult with her. Her office staff is super friendly and very cooperative. I have my LB surgery scheduled for September 4th. I can't wait. I have been looking forward to this lifestyle change.

I'm in the process of going through all of my testing to gain surgery clearance. I know I won't have any problems since I was referred by both my PCP & gastro.

I am going to the Ellis Bariatric Center as well and I love it. My surgery is scheduled for Spetember 9th with Dr. Ingram. She is great I really liked her whe I met her at the first visit. If you want to have your surgery sooner than later pick Dr. Ingram rather than Dr. Clarke as he is harder to get into. I love the office staff. Also the nurses on the floor where you have your recovery are great as well. My mom just had her surgery on August 1st with Dr. Ingram and she is doing great.

Well, it's hard to actually say how long it will really take. They give you a tentative date and then you start going through the testing they (doctors and insurance) deem necessary. But my dates were soemthing like... seminar on Apr 11 and tentative date of Aug 27. But i have had some problems along the way with pulmonary stuff... so it won't be. But they also say that they don't put into the insurance company until you get everything done.... all he testing... and whatever your insurance company needs for the approval.

I hope that kind of answers your question. I don't mean to be evasive, it's just that it's hard to really say... okay.. 4 months from now... it's just not that simple...

Good luck on your journey!! I hope you don't have any bumps!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
