Lmao. Sure it happens all the time at hospitals but really how many times do you sh*t yourself? I can't imagine that happening to me, I'd go bright red and then asked to be transferred to another hospital just so I don't run into any of the nurses lol. Geez I really hope this doesn't happen to me - I'm gonna be paranoid and sitting on the loo the entire time now =S

Believe it or not, it happens LOTS! Depends in part on what your preop diet was and if you are sensitive to the anesthesia. I had this issue at home, luckily!, but not until three or four days post op. It lasted for days - and no warning either! Thank goodness my son is tolerant and helped me clean up the chair I'd been sitting in!

By the way, that was a funny,runny post!:lol:

And I've had the opposite happen. After being constipated and miserable, I felt like I had to go and went flying to the bathroom. I let er rip and all that happened was a lot of hot air. What a disappointment!!! LOL

LOL! Same thing happened to me -- they had to change my sheets, my nightgown, everything! I started to cry, I was so embarrassed, but the nurse's aide said it happens all the time!

It went away the next day.

Thanks for sharing :confused_smile:

I had my lap band surgery on June 13 and it went amazingly well. When I woke up in the PACU I thought for some reason they hadn't been able to place the band because nothing hurt! Anywhere! I started feeling around for bandages and the nurse saw me and asked what was wrong and laughed when I told her, and she confirmed that I had gotten a band.

An hour later after I got to my room I asked to get up and pee, so the nurse unhooked me, and since I was up already I went ahead and started walking laps. Then I went back to bed and slept some. I had to go to Xray to get the swallowing test, and I wanted to walk back to my room. The assistant that was with me tried to say, "no, you have to ride in the wheelchair", but I told her I was supposed to be walking, so couldn't I walk now? So she agreed, and walked back with me. So until three in the morning I had the same routine--pee, walk and sleep about two hours. Here's the warning part--at three am I thought I had to fart so I cut loose--and it wasn't just gas!!:smile: Omigod what a mess! In ALL the reading I've done about my surgery NO ONE has mentioned this!!! I don't remember sharting as being a possibility!! So forgive me for being crude, but I feel it's my civic duty to warn y'all!!!!

:tt2::lol::biggrin::lol::tongue2::lol::thumbup::lol::thumbup::lol::thumbup::lol::smile::lol::smile::lol:

I't is too early to laugh this hard.....:biggrin2::biggrin2:

You got it out easy!!! I had the opposite problem and spent half the day after my surgery on the pot trying to have a bowel movement that was like passing a lead ball. I had to use and enema even. I cried it hurt so bad.

On the up side...I was in the privacy of my own home - hee hee!:rolleyes2:

Wow, I wish someone had told me before my surgery about sharting. Here's what happened to me. I was sound asleep, and I woke up to something ooozing from my butt. Yep, it was mushy poop. It was all over the bed. I was crying and my husband was laughing so hard he actually fell on the floor. Mine too also happened around 3 am. Must be something about the hour.

Hahahahahahaha!! I'm laughin my butt off here. My "shart" experience was at work a couple weeks after banding. :smile: Thankfully it was only a small amount. But that horrible slimy feel between the cheeks as you waddle as fast as you can to the nearest bathroom... oh my!!:redface:

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
