Anyone have chocolate breaka's post op for extra protein?

Recommended Posts

I know that your not supposed to drink your calories/carbs and what not but I was wondering if anyone drank chocolate breakas during there post op to get extra Protein in? I'm currently on medication that has thinned out my hair and I'm worried that if I don't get the extra protein in I'm going to go bald. I just had a chocolate breaka before and was reading the nutritional information and it doesn't seem that bad - For a 250ml breaka it's 8.0g of protein. 9.3 g of fat and 24.5 g of carbohydrates. I figure if I only ever had one maybe every 3 days just to get that extra protein/calcium it isn't so bad, especially since the fat content isn't huge compaired to other things. Also when I'm in hospital they give breaka's to people that need to get protein or extra energy so it makes me wonder that they are good to some extent just not all the time. So what does everyone else think?

Hi Sarah, I can totally relate on the hair loss thing. I also had to start medication a few years ago that caused me to lose around 50% of my hair. Unfortunately, I still need to take it, but am hoping to be free of meds by end of this year.

You need to ensure you are getting around 50-80 grams Protein a day. I personally don't think that "extra" Protein helps Hair loss. I actually lost a lot of hair years ago when following a high protein diet. Just try to keep your nutrients and Vitamins etc at Recommended daily amounts.

For what its worth, about 8 months ago I invested in Leimo laser, and use all the associated wet products. I believe my hair has grown back about 25% of the thickness I lost (no longer see my scalp). It was expensive - but for me, totally worth it. So many little hairs still sticking up as new Hair growth.< /p>

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
