Just Overweight - Yippee!

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow bandsters:

Another milestone this morning. My weight is now 189 and for my height that is considered to be "overweight" on the bmi scale. Having gone from 324 pounds - "Morbidly Obese" to just "overweight" is such a big accomplishment.

I wish you all these thrilling events too!

THANK YOU!!!! I so appreciate reading such a positive story! It seems most only share negative stories, and since I've paid my $$$ and am awaiting surgery on July 2nd, I really needed to hear this from you. My feet have been getting colder and colder by the day, but now I'm feeling a bit better! Congratulations on your great accomplishment. I hope to be one of the success stories like you!

I remember the day I became Merely Overweight Legster. The crazy thing was that with that same weighing I also became Merely Overweight Legster in Onederland. It was a great day. You have a great one, too!!!!

Bandit Girl/Della:

The good, all of it. The bad - stuck once bad. The ugly - the loose skin.

But overall, it's been great!

I'm going to post before & almost there's in July when it's my bandiversary.

Thanks for the good wishes, and the same to you.

Sue

Thanks legster:

We're both under 30 pounds to goal. Isn't it exciting. I know the losses are coming alot slower now for me. I hope we can both hit our goals by October.

WTG Sue! I'm sure it's been a long journey! Only continued success! I hope to join you in the "overweight" category soon too, which will be extremely exciting as I also was morbidly obese less than a year ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
