Hello Everyone,

This is my second post since joining and I got to say it is amazing how much info is avail with in the lap band community. After getting dates bumped around on me a few times I actually have my surgery set for July 23rd. I know of two other people who have had the lap band process done with in the last couple of weeks by the same Doctor I am using. One of the two had been glued with some type of adhesive and the incision looked a lot better then the person who had her incisions closed with sutures. Can anyone please comment on their experience with the gluing? I am also open to any comments about gluing vs sutures because I would have to say again that the persons incision with the glue looked like it would look better once healed. Please give me your thoughts:confused:

7_5_142.gifI was glued. I liked it a lot better than stiches and staples I have had for other surguries. It is also more comfotable for me. Good luck on your journey.

I had 6 incisions- the 5 smaller ones were closed with 1-2 sutures, and the larger incision for the port was closed with glue and steri-strips. The glued incision is much more comfortable, and seems to be healing much better than the others.

Good luck!

Hello all, I had surgery to have a couple cysts removed back in February and they closed those with stitches. I have a large amount of scaring where the incision healed but for the LB surgery They glued me. LB surgery was May 14th and the incision is almost unnoticeable. I small thin line very smooth. All of my incisions were glued I loved it. No pain from the actual incisions. I really didn't get an option but I liked what the surgeon did. Good Luck now that I have recently had both ways I would definitely go with the glue.

I was glued for my Lapband surgery on May 20th. I much prefer them to stitches which generally need to be removed unless you have the kind that melt away. I also was glued after I had my gall bladder removed in Dec 07. The incisions have healed very well from that surgery as are the incisions from my Lapband surgery.

I had the glue for my original surgery. When I had to have a port revision last week he did both. He cut out my old port scar and sewed me back together. He used stitches for that, but then put the glue on top. He said the stitches would eventually disolve.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
