Tentative surgery date

Recommended Posts

My surgery is tentatively scheduled for the 8th of July. I'm starting to get a little nervous!!

:tt2: I had the psych evaluation on 4/8/08

 Dieticians 1st visit 4/10

 sleep study 4/12 & 4/19

Monthly dr. appts.

 Dieticians 2nd visit of 7/7/08

:scared2: Surgery on 7/8/08

Next week I am to begin the pre-op liquid diet, and we are going to be in Vegas!

What a bummer that will be, but I intend to follow drs. orders!

Any advice on calming the jitters?

Cinda

Just take it one day at a time, Cinda. There were times on the pre-diet that I thought I'd go crazy, but I made it.......and you will too. Just by saying that you'll stick to the diet helps you that much more (as opposed to having a dialog with yourself saying "well, I'll try to stick to my diet, but..."). As for the jitters, it's a pretty easy surgery and you'll do fine (You'll do finer by following the doc's orders). Good luck! You can do it!

NOTHING to be nervous about...Just think of it as the first day to your new life! I am almost two weeks post op and I am soo happy I did this. Best decision I have ever made! Just take it one day at a time! Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
