sirlsa 0 Posted June 17, 2008 I'm a nervous wreck! I can't stop eating because when I'm this emotional I eat. Has anyone been approved based on the following information? If so, do you have UHC Choiceplan 100? My BMI is approximately 35.6, I have mild case of sleep apnea and osteoarthritis. I've also provided them with four years of weight history (all with a BMI of at least 35), I've been on many diets and gave them a list of them, I can't remember the exact dates of these diets but I do know that each time I lost weight, I ended up bigger than when I started. I believe that the Lap Band is the tool I need to take control of my life – to beat this disease. I was declined two years ago and I'm so scared that I will be declined again. Although I did not have the sleep study the first time.
Camel_Cracker 3 Posted June 17, 2008 After being repeatedly denied with my UHC insurance (BMI was 50 and hypertension) I caved in and selfpayed in Mexico.

Found out yesterday when I called UHC that it just showed up in their system and they are working on it! Good luck to you! Have you heard anything yet? WEESIE 5 Posted June 29, 2011 Yes, I have United Health Care Choice Plus. I had a BMI of a little over 36 with two morbidities, but my policy only required one. I kept in touch with them as it went through the system. My policy had 15 calendar days to make a decision, but it took them a couple of days to put it into the system. They did tell me that the doctor listing a potential surgery date helped because they try to finish it before the surgery date. I was approved in about 10 days. Good luck!
