I am new to this process and to chatting in a chat room support group. I am starting the process of LapBand surgery through Nix Health System in San Antonio. I had my first meeting with Dr. Wright and will meet with the Nutrionalist and Psyh on July 1. I need the surgery to not only lose weight but to help curb some pretty tough back pain due to previous spine surgeries, etc. I am hoping that this support group will help me prepare for my new way of life. Plus hopefully I will be able to encourage others by discussing my journey over the next year or so. I will appreciate any insight that is available as I would like to know what this adventure as I will call it will entail.

welcome aboard...you'll learn a lot and have an opportunity to share a lot here. but make sure that you get the "real scoop" from your doctor and his/her office staff. (sometimes we know what we're talking about and sometimes we don't ).

Hey fourpaws! I once did an internship with the hyperbaric oxygen department (wound care) at the Nix. Cool old hospital very close to the riverwalk. I went to college in San Marcos, and I love Texas hill country. Welcome and good luck!
