Hello everyone am LT!

My name is LT am from Texas age 29 and 112 pounds over weight. I have done a lot research and am sold that the band will help me. I ran into a problem with my insurance and they do not cover the surgery. :confused2: So now am on the search to find a private insurance company that will cover the surgery. Am so desperate that for the last three days I have not went to work or talked with any family members about this. Am so unhappy right now.:P

I have been on so many diets and so many pills that I have lost all hope. Please if you read this and have any suggestion or answers to my problem please respond here or respond to my personal email candiland12@gmail.com.

Love is hope!

Hey there... Have you thought about going to Mexico and self paying? It can be less than half the USA cost. I have no regrets.

I had to self pay. Dr. Kirschenbaum in Denver has resonable rates and through his office they can help you find financing. I went ahead and bit the bullet and paid in full (that was the most painful part of the whole process) but as I near a month post surgery I haven't regreted the money a bit. Plus when I consider how much my weight would have cost me I guess it works out in my favor

Alot of people have the surgery done in Mexico since it's about 10,000 there. But there are doctors around the Us that also do it for 10,000. I know there is one in Colorado and one in Coosbay, Oregon.

I would link you if I could find it, but there's a thread somewhere about people who have been banded in Mexico. There are some awesome places to go!! I was self-pay, and I was going to go there. I ended up self-paying 2x the cost to have it done in the states just to appease my family.

candiland, I don't know if you'd be interested in going the loan route, but in the packet I got from the hospital, there was pamphlet from National City Bank that is offering special discount rates for the Realize Band. I'm not sure if it's for every state or what the discount is, but it says you can go to www.RealizeBand.com for additional information, if that's an option you'd like to look into.

I'm sorry your insurance won't cover the procedure. Mine doesn't either.

Candiland my price in Mexico was $7950 instead of the $16,500 that it would have cost me in Kansas City. Check it out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
